Well i was looking at my EOT poster map. There is no way for the Imperium to fight back right but defend the rest of there life time on cadia.Every crusade did a major blow to the Cadian Gate and its getting weaker. The 13th crusade was the wrost to come for the cadia planet now she stands alone with no friends to protect her.So if we can't attack the eye.Really it's not fair so we can't attack but all we can do is defend this planet until she falls. So when cadia does it's all over for Terra.Imperium cant attack the eye how about send ships to blow up the traitor homeworlds to make it easyer on us or are they in the eye.We blew up SJH planet. It's like lord of Rings,to destroy evil you have to throw the ring in the valcano but there is no ring.So we can't do no harm but they can.How about throw bunch of nuclear bombs in the eye have the gods or b*tch at the eldar for creating this mess-clean it up d*mit .GW should have Imperium attack the deamon worlds or the traitor worlds or make them attack them some how.Like the 13th company they got in they should give the imperium tips how to get in.give the imperium a chance. But in my gut feeling the EOT campian was a show, cuz GW had nothing else better to do or promote there new cadian troopers,13th company. It didnt make sence they put out the troopers and then if the plantet falls there useless.
I think it was profit for them and fun for us.
First of all, the traitor legions are mostly inside the EoT. Their homeworlds have already BEEN destroyed by the Imperium.
They could never launch an attack at the EoT - it's the place where the warp spills into the material realm, so beings that can control the immaterium can do so in the EoT, but not outside it. So the Imperium could send their entire naval force into the EoT, and a bunch of Daemons would create vast Chaos fleets to destroy them - although the Chaos fleets wouldn't be able to leave the Eye, as they'd stop existing in the material realm. It's basically a stand off right now. Chaos cannot penetrate into the heart of the Imperium, and the Imperium cannot strike at Chaos' home in the material realm.
THAT is GW's marketing ploy - they created a universe where no side can win. Orks are a disease that cannot be totally purged from any planet. Eldar have countless craftworlds. CSM have the Eye. The Imperium has a disgusting amount of defences around Earth, and countless planets full of soon-to-be-Guardsmen. Nid's come from another galaxy, so their number can never be gauged. DE's home city/planet/whatever-it-is is hidden from everyone, and they refuse to fight in large-scale wars that would basically destroy those that are left anyways. Necrons are on countless planets, they wake up as GW wants them to. Tau, well, they exist only because it would take too many lives for the Imperium to exterminate them. If GW launched a campaign that could actually WIN, and a side WON, then their prized game would become rather pointless, yes?
thanks that does explain alot.Nobody wins.
besides do you have any idea on how great the number of casualties the empire would get should they enter the EoT
The Imperium though must have a huge fleet so couldn't they station a shard of it around the eye of terror and just shoot what comes out? or couldn't they just shoot into it with massed barrages and just destroy alot of stuff that way?
every body say Waaaaagh!
Oh man, you really need to get a handle on the scale of space, which is quite literally astronomical. "huge" doesn't begin to describe the number of ships required to envelop an area of space.Originally posted by vampirism101@Jul 16 2004, 12:34

To picket a sphere 1000 LY in diameter (1% of the diameter of the galaxy), you're dealing with a surface area (after all, space is three dimensional) of 4*pi*r^2 or 2.811e+38 square metres. Let's use square kilometres instead of metres. That's 2.811 x 10^32 square kilometres - 2.8 followed by 32 zeroes.
Let's stick with light years to avoid the zeros. The total area to cover would be 3.14 MILLION square light years. Just to give each ship a patrol area of one square light year, you'd need 3.14 million ships. And since real space travel is at only a small fraction of light speed, they'd need several years to patrol their area.
So obviously, simply putting up pickets all the way around the Eye isn't going to work, especially since the EoT is a hell of a lot bigger than 1% of the width of the galaxy. We don't know the voume of the Cadian route out of the Eye, but unless it is very small indeed, Chaos ships will be able to pass through any picket force with ease, and especially so since they'll be in the Warp and AFAIK it is essentially impossible to fight a naval action in the warp or even to maintain station in a picket.
Because their retarded? Or more to the point GW staff are retarded who's lack of creativity came up with very little, except for the desire to make a game ( or more to the point make money) that play's on assault and ranged rather than bombardment (otherwise that would be playing Battlefleet Gothic now wouldn’t it, which dose not sell very well). So that’s why the Imperium dose not blow planets, due to the minor detail of making a game called Warhammer 40k.
The first original idea was that they did not have the technology to do this, but now this is obviously not true as such events appear to frequently happen. The only reasoning behind it, will have to be lack of accessibility and lack of fleet ships to perform such duties. There's that reason and the idea that GW staff are lacking some Prozac and a well needed few hits with a polo mallet.
Well they better start making those ships. 3.13 billions ships to go.
firing a massed barrage into the eye of terror will do nothing at all, that area of space is under the full control of the forces of chaos the laws of physics do not apply there.
Wir Werden Vorherrschen!
"I cast Lvl. 3 Eroticism. You turn into a real beautiful woman."
and firing a mass barrage, theyd probably be able to send it all back out of the EoT
its like playing counter strike, and chaos gods are the admins. the control the console. once anything enters the admins game, the admin can take controle
they can say kill who ever and theyre dead outrite. its probably gonna take a LOT of holy relics, and other holy stuff(sorry, my brain went dead) to stop the control the chaos have in the EoT remember, its another dimension, we dont know how big it is.
