Im trying to think of a good planet which the Tyranids, Tau, and Imperial Guard all fought for control over. Can anybody help me? Preferably originally held by the Imperial Guard. Does anybody know of such a planet or one that could possibly be close.
I can't see anyone complaining if you just make one up. As long as you say it's in the appropriate sector of the galaxy, it's all good. Afterall, it's not like they've named every single planet that's usable.

Well I suppose I could do that I was trying not to, but oh well ill try and find a map of tau space and get it done. thanks.
theres a planet called erwynn's world its an old space marine chapter planet the chapters gone but its on the eastern fringe of the galaxy and i would guess the imperium would of sent a recon guard unit to find out what happend
I like that suggestion except that Erwynn's world is located east of Ultima Segmentum, and that's no where near Tau space.
So I have decided to take your suggestions and make a planet, that is a space marine world which has lost contact with the imperium, I will call it Verkeelion. The Chapter will be like The Emperor's Lions or Sons of Verkeelion? However I would like some semi dark colours for there armour then as I plan on having there bodies strewn across my gaming table. Anybody have any ideas on a decent colour scheme that would work with either name. The Emperor's Lions I am only seeing as some kind of yellow as the main colour but can not picture a good complimentary colour. Any ideas much appreciated?
Well, how about this - After the 13th Black Crusade the Imperium was pretty busy. During this time, the Tau pushed outwards, taking control of a few Imperial worlds while the main body of the Imperium wouldn't take much notice. So there, in official fluff you have Imperial Guard (garrisoned on the planet most likely, or sent as a response to delay the attack) and the Tau, aggressively expanding their young empire.
From there you could jump in - say the planet already had a Genestealer infestation in the human population and called part of the hive fleet to the sector, or, maybe it was just coincidence that the Hive Fleet invaded the area.
Anyway, hope this helps

you could use the colour scheme of grey and black for the dead space marines but the colour of the spacemarines would depend on what the environment is so like black with a snow planet ,green in desert and white on a volcanic planet
