Does Power Armour have some sort of tracking beacon?

Space Marines generally do all they can to retrieve the bodies of their fallen, or at the very least extract the geneseed right?
In order to facilitate this does Power Armour have some of sort of tracking beacon or locator beacon so the apothecaries can find the bodies?
Same question re Terminator Armour and Artificer Armour - as these are generally revered items I expect many chapters will go to some lengths to recover them.

I know Marine engagements are usually fairly small, and fluff wise at least, nothing much generally kills them, but when fighting in dense jungle or still hostil territory it would be difficult to get their dead.

So, do they have some sort of locating device?

(whilst we're on the subject - how can Sisters of Battle wear power armour? I thought you needed a black carapace for the suit to work properly?)

I can't say I've seen it all but I live for the things that keep me hollow.

Some sort of tracking mechanism is mentioned in some stories, I'm fairly certain they're used sort of like flares in the Space Wolf series, preventing friendly fire, creating rally points, etc. I'm sure they'd be some system where the 'flares' could be triggered remotely to allow the suits to be found and recovered.

And as for the SoB one... their suits don't work properly, hence why they're only S3 T3, as the powerful servoes and whatnot that (partially) add to a Marine's strength are purely used to offset the immense weight of the suit itself.

I reckon the suits have some form of GPS or something built in so that other forces can track them on the field or from orbit. Given that the helmet interface is said to have a lot of tactical data, such as where friendly forces are positioned, this only seems very logical and should be expected to be found in the Marine's armour.

No, to use the full functions of Power armour you need the black carapace. Regular humans can still wear it as very powerful armour but does not get the full, enhancing effects of it.

Specifically, all the funky electronic gubbins (autosenses, extra strength enhancement etc) doesnt get added to suits without a Black Carapace plug. So you only need a carapace to use marine power armour.

They almost certainly have a beacony thing.
The name refers to facial hair, not playing style.

Cheers - would the beacon wotsit still work if the marine was dead?

Probably, as long as the suit's electrical systems weren't completely screwed over.

    Hence viable geneseed extraction.
