I'm planning on starting a IG army of the Death Korps, Beacuase of the look and feel off the army. I was wondering the fluff on this army, any thing anyone knows and have read, if it wsa in a recent WD i have no way to get one.
Also I was wondering on the colors of the uniforms, in both fluff and painting terms, please.
From what I think I've read the planet Krieg revolted against the Imperium some years back and got the **** beat out of them. The planet was virus bombed or nuked or something from orbit and ended up as a nasty little desert that nobody really wants to live on. The Death Korp is so named because in order to repent for their planet's past crimes, they take on any mission regardless of the chances for survival. They have a sort of suicidal streak, so they NEVER retreat..i mean never..as in "lets all stand here and get shot to death".At least that's how I think the fluff gos
Thanks for the info, anyone else like to contribute?
Here's how it goes:
In 433.M40, the Autarch of the planet Krieg in Segmentum Tempestus declared himself independent from the Imperium and renounced the Emperor as his divine master. Regiments raised on Krieg to crush this rebellion acted with commendable haste and righteous fury. The now infamous Colonel Jurten of the Krieg 33rd unleashed a campaign of atomic cleansing that was to turn into a scourging that lasted five hundred years and transformed Krieg into a toxic, ash-polluted wasteland. The survivors of Jurten's retribution were forced to exist in underground bunkers or deep in the radioactive chem-wastes, as their descendants do to this day. From the self-annihilation of their home world, the Death Korps was born.
As penance for the Autarch's heresy, the Death Korps regiments each embarked on their own quest for absolution, constantly requesting transfers to the most lethal warzones throughout the galaxy. Every soldier in the Death Korps is proud of the regiment's part in the purification of Krieg and they despise the cowardice of lesser men that would flinch from such acts. The regimental creed is to eradicate heresy and weakness wherever it is found and on numerous occasions Death Korps forces have been reprimanded for their excessive use of force and unsanctioned genocidal campaigns.
I've seen some of the Krieg models which are based on the Steel Legion, if they brought out some plastic kits for the Steel Legion then i'd love to make an army.

The air stank with corruption and Commisar Hutker was getting anxious at the thought of another chance of redemption in the fires of battle. He looked around and noted that his men where ready, he had been in command since Officer Dunker got shot in the head by a sniper. Then they had been transferred to the most hellish battlefields on this side of the Imperium, all in a crusade for redemption.
However this warzone was different, the ground had been mutated to resemble living flesh and the air reeked with the influence of Chaos. Hutker was just letting his mind go off when it happened, the air infront of them, no further than 500m down the road tore open a rift between the real world and the Immaterium. Hutker chewed down on his cigar and started barking orders. "All right men, you know whats coming, this is the scourge of Chaos and they are in our way on the road to redemption" he barked, even though he knew his mens resolve would waiver, they where the Death Korps of Krieg and to die in battle was to be forgiven by the Emperor himself. A pack of daemonettes burst through the rift in warp space and was met by a well calculated volley of las-gun fire. The daemonettes screamed as bright hot laser punched through flesh, sinew and bone alike. However as several daemonettes dropped more poured through the rift. But again and again volleys of las-guns answered the hallowing screams of daemonettes. And then it happened as Hutker thought it would the daemonette's mounted on their hellish cavalry broke into their left flank, pitting man vs daemon.
The daemonettes were making short work of his fellow korps, until a raw battlecry and the thunderous sound of multiple sets of hooves sounded the arrival of the Korps Roughriders. The Roughriders charged the daemonettes on the collapsing left flank, slamming into them at full charge letting go a furious blast of hunting lances decimating the daemon cavalry riders.
It was then Hutker heard a bestial roar from behind him, he turned around to face a group of Bloodletters breaking his right flank. He swung his ornate power sword in a large arc and lopped one of the daemons heads off. He was thinking that his lines were being broken and that it wouldnt be long till they where overrun, until the massive firepower of the Korps Leman came to bear. Heavy Boltors spewing death into the Bloodletters ranks. With the loss of multiple daemons, the rift ahead of them began to falter. But suddenly the rift regained its composure and began growing. The remaining Death Korps readied there weapons, and the Rough Riders rode forward to meet whatever was coming out of that rift next. And then it happened, materialising amidst the group of Rough Riders came a gigantic Bloodthirster. Hutker watched in horror as the Rough Riders we taken apart piecemeal by the juggernaut of death. He was about to order his men to fix bayonets and charge this monstrosity, when he noticed the Korps Leman speeding towards the target at full speed, loosing off round after round of Heavy Boltor ammunition. The Bloodthirster reacted with un-natural speed jumping on top of the Leman and snipping of its turret in one clean motion, attempting to get at the crew inside. Then Hutker saw what epitomised the beliefs of the Death Korps, the driver of the battle tank turned around to face the Lemans Battle Cannon ammunition storage and unsheathed his lasgun and fired it at the ammunition. The result was catastrophic, as multiple Battle Cannon rounds went off causing a semi nuclear explosion. With the Bloodthirster dead the rift in the warp space lost its hold on the real world and dissolved, returning the ground around them to the arid wasteland that this backwater planet was. The Commisar was just catching his breath when a transmission came in over the Vox. "All Korps prepare for transportation, Course heading Ispima 5, Mission : Condemn the Heretic, Threat Level : Epsilon"
Apparently a planetary govenor was claiming he was the new Emperor and it was now the task of the Death Korps to carry out Imperial justice. He knew his men where tired, but there was no rest in the service of the Death Korps, because you got plenty of time to do that when you were dead.
Based on a GW story but I modified it for more action, plus I have written more. If you like it PM me and i'll post more.

If I ever had the urge to collect IG, I'd go for the Death Korps. You gotta love those WWI German style uniforms, the attrition tactics and the crazy inability to run away in the face of stupid odds.
Yup, they're like regular IG, but cool.
...So you get that 5 finger discount too?Originally posted by steel_legion@Aug 10 2004, 16:49
