When Necron attack, the attack is precise and often Quick. How are they organised? How do the C'tan pick necron warriors for a certain battle? How many are picked usually? when do they send in destroyers and monoliths? When are flayed ones used, etcetera, etcetera.
In summery, when do the necron use what?
Necron will stand for eternity.Their race has survived aeons by trading their very souls for metal bodies. Now, they will live on through eternity and will vanquish all life from our universe. For they are Necron. Flesh is weak. The machine will rise!
You march in a huge phalanx, get back up, then get close enough to shoot the living hell out of your opponents.
"And whoever wants to be a creator in good and evil, must first be an annihilator and break values. Thus the highest evil belongs to the greatest goodness: but this is--being creative."
~ Friedrich Nietzsche ~

I don't think the Necrons actually have to carefully consider what to use or which warriors to pick. Remember that "Their number is legion; Their name is death". So the C'Tan just probably muster up everything that is conveniently nearby, march them over to the enemy and gauss them all to death.

I agree with ascesion, the necrons just take whatevers on hand, they dont really have to worry to much about losses as they all go back to the tomb world for repairs if they get damaged
