Just curious if anyone would like to elaborate on my chapter of the space marines. I can give you some general ideas about them and someone if they wish could add to it.
They are mostly bike orientated army. They will use bikes/attack/bikes landspeeders. So they are similiar to the ravenwing or the white scars. They like to use melta and flame weapons so in that regards they are alot like the salamanders. I plan to use Khan in this army just because he is the only special character to on a bike and adds some punch to the command squad.
sounds like Eldar with an armor save *the sound of a REALLY envious Eldar player*
as far as fluff... if you want to go canon-heavy, say that they are of raven guard descent, and had a particularly long campaign in a city, battleship, or anything that has close-quarters combat.
If you really wanted to go White Scars, call them some sort of scout unit that developed into its own semi-autonomous company, which was voted off the chapter when the White Scars were called upon to found another. Survivor jokes aside, that could work to an extent for the Raven Guard as well.
As far as melta/flame weapons go, there are few chapters that DON'T have them. In fact, hard hitting weapons such as them make a lot more sense than bolter variants mounted on the bikes.
The Ultramarines might try and diversify, (because they are women(not really) and if they aren't ready for every possibility the squats will come back out of the bin of failed GW ideas and pwn some Smurfs,) but other than that every race with skimmer/bike units put big guns on them.
So yeah, some sort of recon/disruption unit that got handed over to the Adeptus Terra to found a new chapter.
Terminator armor going critical would be like Three Mile Island only very, VERY angry, and carrying a hammer.
LO rules in a nutshell: Don't post unit costs, be polite, rep posts containing of win.
The name gives a sort of knightly feel..
Which makes sense with all their bike riding and such, they are like high tech knights. Maybe they come from a feudal world with some kind of excessively aggressive dragon-like wildlife (reign of fire esque science dragons?) and young nobles have to proove their worth by slaying the beasts. Those who proove most successful are recruited to the chapter.
Remember you can proxy khan's rules for something else. So you could have a chapter master with similar equipment and a similar ethos and use a totally different model and name.
If you want a conversion idea.. you can make great 'knightly' marines by chopping the horns of chaos warrior helmets and sticking them on your marine bodies. They fit pretty well..
The knightly theme is where I was going. I have collected enough of the robe biker legs/torso to do 20 bikers, So I will have the 2 command squads in full robes and the sgts in each troop squad I believe. I have also found a company that does dragon/salamander bits for conversions. My helmets will be:
I Will probably greenstuff hoods over them as well. I also have about 30 of the various dark angels robed helmets. I like the crusader variant because it looks very much knightly and would probably use it on the company champions in the command squads.
The same company also does thunderhammers and come power claws with a dragon theme. I will be using the claws as lightning claws. I will be using some lizardmen shields as scaled stormshields. So they will be robed and their power armor will be adorned with dragon scales.
I guess really wanted to see how fluffy an army like this could be and how people would feel about it. So basically it could be a "knightly" space marines that ride on bike and prefer melta and flamer weapons and also have alot of CC ability through their veteran command squads.

When I hear dragons, meltas, flamers, and thunder hammers I think Salamanders. You could make the Order of the White Dragon a Salamander Successor Chapter, that way you can avoid the whole White Scars comparisons that'll inevitably come up and give you more fluff flexibility to boot.
PS love the robes and Knight theme too. (maybe make their power swords lances?)
My award winning Orky tale
If only you could throw a few imperial guard hell hounds for the fire effect!
Land speeders with heavy flamers are the only flamer weapons I planned on using but are sufficient. The army at 2000 points will have 14 melta guns, 6 multimeltas, 3 heavy flamers, 3 combi meltas, 9 guys with melta bombs. There will be 6 with lightning claws/stormshield, 2 with thunder hammers/stormshield. Totaling 24(2x6 command squad) and(3x4 troop bike squads) normal bikes, 3 attack bikes, 3 land speeders.
Thought this was funny. I planned to have the command squad strap or holster whatever weapon I don't have them modeled on to their bikes and this was just too funny.

You can take Kor'sarro Khan for some bike support, and Vulcan Hestan so that your Salamander based weapons are all twin-linked.
I am giving the land speeders a multi-melta and heavy flamer. Giving them versatility and it is 10 points cheaper then giving them two multimeltas which is just overkill and would only be useful if you get a weapon destroyed but more likely it will just destroy you.
