what happened to them? I was reading some 40k history and noticed there was a human empire with highly advanced tech which horus was forced to negotiate with and who possessed the anathame a weapon capable of harming horus.
like the laerun they had troops equal to the marines, yet they relied more heavily on pure science( specifically AI machines are mentioned)
so after the heresy what happened interex?
have they ever been mentioned again or were they destroyed by the luna wolves?
The interex were affiliated with the eldar with regards to their technology. The anathame was not of their construction but rather taken from a chaos worshipping species they had defeated in battle.
I don't recall any mention of AI, nor any further mention of the interex - it's likely they were annihilated, possibly after the initial theft of the anathame, but nothing more is said of it.
We dont know if they were destroyed or not. The SM were fighting them but then left before they finished the job and we don't know if anyone ever got round to taking them out. They werent mentioned again and your guess is as good as mine.
They were slated to be wiped out but the Heresy came along and screwed up everyone's shit a couple of years later.
So who knows. They might still be out there, hiding on the edge of colonised space and waiting until the Imperium implodes on itself. There are a lot of alien races which the Imperium didn't eradicate fully, many of whom used to occupy large tracts of space, and who generally try and move under the radar and not get seen by Imperial fleets. The Interex could easily still exist in that kind of position.

They were a very interesting "race", or at least I thought so. It would be nice to see them again, but I have a feeling this will be another unknown in the 40K universe.
well it clearly states that they were a human empire, thus the reason they were gettting talked too rather than virus bombed--- but it would present a good opportunity for someone who wanted to make a high tech guard force but didnt want to go the guevasa route
