In my fluff, the original Order of the Sisters of Battle that I'm using was corrupted by a rogue psyker who, upon being possessed, sent waves of billowing Chaos energy into a group of Sisters, twisting their minds and turning them to Chaos. They later went on and spread the corruption by mere presence and whispers, and slowly turned the entire order into a band of insane Chaos cultists in power armor and armed with Imperial weapons.

Could such mental-manipulation remain hidden, even in a Ecclesiarchal cathedral, long enough to spread to a group of nearly 800 Sisters? I'm not expecting anyone to know exactly, but I simply ask if this would be believable/acceptable/not-complete-BS.

Well it depends on how long it took for all those whispers and such to pass around... I mean if the whole place was chaotic in lets say under 5 hours then yes I think such a thing could somehow happen but in any lenght of time longer then 24 hours I have to say that.. It would kinda be hard for a random preist not to notice.... unless of coure that when this wave of choas spread it cause a shadow in the warp over the place....

Um...well I think that's exactly how chaos works. It starts out small, maybe just a small group of (in this case) sisters, and spreads.I think it's a slow proccess,so I'd say if the 800 sisters in question were all in the same convent/church/monastary/whathever,it would probably take about a year for the whole place to be butt naked and worshipping slaanesh. And to really answer your question yes,it's possible,it's just not as common among SOB as others.

Thanks, just making sure I'm not contradicting any particular already-established piece of fluff. If the admins would close this thread, it's quite finished.

Chaos uses sublt mind control and whisperings to achieve that which combat cannot. The only problem is that the higher ranks are nearly uncorruptable. So by the time, say, 100 Sisters are corrupt, they assassinate their higher ranks, and the rest of the Sisters join their ranks. Otherwise, the corruption would be rooted out by the highly skilled powers of the higher ranking officials.

A hard time? As soon as they find out who is corrupted, its onto the fire with the heretic. They might interrogate them, or at least a few of them, but I doubt that the corruption would be hard to eliminate. Once you have got all of the corrupted, you deal with them as necesary, and thats it.

In the fluff, when the head Inquisitors come back after a tour of purifying planets in the same system, they do eradicate the traitor-Sisters and all of their followers. The thing is, that why they were away, all that was left to observe the spreading corruption were a few henchmen of theirs, studying deeply in libraries and reading ancient scriptures. Eventually, some would have noticed, but they may have been "silenced" within the cathedral by corrupted Sisters.
