well, im actually eldar, thinkin on starting a splinter off of the death guard, only instead of the one loyalist death guard being killed in the heresy, he makes it to terra, informs the Emperor, and so, is granted the authority to start a new chapter. obviously, this entails taking bits from chaos death guard and creating new power weapons. rather than a plain old sword, i will be making scythes out of green stuff (mortarions personal guard had them and i thot it was amazing). im thinking the colors should be like a dark green true metallic, almost DA green, but mixed with either boltgun or mithril, and im still working on the rest of he fluff, this is just of the to of my head. any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism would be greatly appreciated as well as advice on names, im pretty stereotypical at that... unless its eldar cuz no one understands it!!! ps eldar amy name is "Fhaisorr'ko slavhreenur oe atherakhia" or "shadow point of salvation or destruction"
i thought nathaneil garro did make it to terra, informed the emperor, but then became one of the (supposed) founders of the inquisition, along with an early sister of battle (sister of silence?) and some arts type. thats how it is in flight of the eisenstein anyhow. The only main flaw i can see in your plan, is that the emperor never had chapters, guiliman introduced them afterwards, so he couldnt have given your marine a new chapter, and a leigon could never have been built in time.
you may want to change the timing of your incident to after the heresy to fit with the codex being mandated by guiliman.

ok i think i need to re-read the horus heresy books then. thank you for your input and information, it was very helpful! any ideas on what to name the chapter?
If you think about it, this marine's brothers have all gone to heracy and against the emperor. The Emperor's goons would still be suspicious of him even if the inqusition wasn't founded by then. They brobly would've tested him a bit, and by then, (please correct me if I'm wrong with the length of the HH and stuff) all the other legions are splitting up into chapters and just mabey the emeror granted this marine the honour of being a psudo-primarch, making more marines of his gene seed. Possibly this marine was there at the same time Nathaniel Garro was telling the emperor, and now his chapter works closely with the inquisition.
Brothers of the Dead
Gaurds of Barbarus
Dusk Raiders (death guard's original name)
Sons of the Tattle-tale
awesome! if i find another chance to write all this down ill be sure to post it on this forum. Keep it coming everyone!!! haha sons of the tattle tale ROFLMAO
Primarchdom wasn't something that could be granted, like the rank of Chapter Master or something. A Primarch is/was the son of the Emperor himself, and while the idea is overall sound, this "tattle-tale" of yours could have been made the Chapter Master at inception of the new chapter, in secret by the remaining Primarchs, who knew (from the Emperor, through Dorn) that this man and his merry band of Space Marines were loyal and had tried to help. However, the general public DIDN'T know that so the Primarchs decided to keep it quiet. the Inquisition does know, and they have helped keep it quiet.
But not all secrets want to remain buried... (queue melodramatic music)
Terminator armor going critical would be like Three Mile Island only very, VERY angry, and carrying a hammer.
LO rules in a nutshell: Don't post unit costs, be polite, rep posts containing of win.
Sounds like the idea is going pretty well. Just a quick tip on the scyths, don't use GS to make them, you'll just end up with floppy scyths with fingerprints in them (they get there no matter how careful one is). Would recomend using plasticard to make the blades. That way you get a nice shape and you can even sharpen them down with a file if you like.
The names that DDW came up with are pretty cool (cept for tattle-tale, tsk tsk ) I think Dusk Raiders would be really fitting. They would want to retain the purity that the legion had before the HH. They may see this as begining with the discovery of Mortarion and the changing of the legion's name to the Death Guard. If this were so than returning to the Dusk Raiders would be showing a return to 'the good old days' as it were and to the name given them by the Emperor himself and not that of the traitor Mortarion.
If you follow this line then you may want to revert to the original paint scheme too which I think was reddy-browns. Not sure on that and can't remember a source for it. Maybe distancing the scheme from the greens of the Death Guard would be good tho. I see no reason why the original legion symbol (the halod skull) could not be kept tho seeing as the current Death Guard have abbandoned it and that it was the Dusk Raider's symbol beforehand.
Food for thought. Good luck
Lexicanum has a wide supply of 40k knowledge, Death Guard - Lexicanum It does mention their forces that stayed loyal to the emperor but does not mention what befell them.
Nathaniel Garro - Lexicanum
In particular note in the secod link is his fate, one says he renounced warfare to try and find a cure for nurgles rot, one says he helped found the inquisition, he may have become a daemo prince of nurgle, another theory is that he did make a new chapter fighting with the original colours of the Dusk Raiders.

Ah i may be able to shed some light on the many fates of nethaniel garro.
All are true, but to different people.
The apocarthery that stayed loyal denounced warfare to try to cure nurglews rot,
garrro himself, the sister of silence and the art type are generally thought to have been inquisition. Garro for deamonhunters, Sister of silence for witch hunters and the arts type helped both of them.
As for the deamon prince, a marine who coght the rot and was slowly getting worse whilst being healed by the appocathery, turned to nurgle and became "The Lord of Flies" Thats why theres a DP theory.
Heres an idea, why dosnt the chapter speciallise in fighting the zombie plauge currently being spread around by typhus and co?
Hope that helps a bit

just so you know, the inquisition didnt have any witchhunters until after the age of apostasy
