-There were no chapters until years after the Heresy.
-There were no Chapter Masters before the end of the Heresy. There were Primarchs. The ones that are essentially mini-clones of the Emperor.
-The Fallen Legions have no known successor Chapters. You have to be channeling Dan Abnett to be able to write something that would excuse such a break from the canon.



Essentially, you are trying to say "what if" about the Horus Heresy. You know, the founding conflict of the 40k-verse. That is a bad idea. It's would be like trying to explain to a Eurocentric historian why the Fall of Rome wasn't the single most pivotal event in history. You clearly have an inventive mind, but 40k players do object when someone tries to buck with the few pieces of canon that GW has set down.



My advice is to ax this idea. There isn't a real way to salvage it. Sorry to be so brutal about it but if someone doesn't explain it now, this thread will go on forever. It won't go in a good direction, either.

Working outside of the Luna Wolves idea, there are ways you could have a "suspicious" chapter. Some succesor chapter of another Legion, that was cut off, with it's brother chapter, by a warp storm, and trapped within X system for several thousand years. Once the warp storm died, they re-initiated contact with the imperium, who would be understandably insane paranoid about the whole matter.

Hmmm I can understand Rafis points but you are thinking of them as chapters to begin with. Maybe I should be more precise I guess and call them off shoots of the Luna Wolves BEFORE they became the Sons of Horus. I realize that there were no "chapters" back then but that does not mean that the giant legions did not break off for certain reasons. When they rejoined the Imperium there were so many Space Marines from this off shoot that they had to break off into the Luna Falcons and Terra Wolves. That simple.

Also the Fall of Rome was not the single most pivitol thing in history World War 2 was. Rome was not that pivitol due to the fact it did not effect the ENTIRE WORLD! How can someone be closed minded and say something like that? I completly understand what you are saying but you are basing your opinion off just that your opinion. I degress. . .

Try taking a step back and put your self in the shoes of an Inquisitor who makes planetfall in a system that no one knew existed. The 2 groups of people lined up on both sides of you and you do not know who they belong to. Next take into consideration that as you think of the majestic city that surrounds them. One that is clean and well kept and would remind you of the Golden days of the crusade. Then think as you walk down the middle of those two lines of men and armour the 4 ancient and Proud warriors of these single group later to be broken up into 2 groups.

Now tell me it is not possible. Do not shoot down something you do not think totally through. I love to write and something like this can get EXTERMLY IN DEPTH!!!! I am working on a book that I will post as the chapters get completed.

Of course I know that the Fall of Rome wasn't the most pivotal event in history. I specifically said it would be as if to tell a Eurocentric historian that, to someone who has studied history and concluded that Europe and its ancestry are the most important points.

Additionally, it doesn't really make sense for random warbands of a thousand Marines to be hanging out as splinter groups within spitting distance of the Emperor himself, Him on Terra itself, no less. Space Marines were just as important a resource then as they are now.

Further, it's a little silly to have a couple of Marines who survived the virus bombing of Istvaan III. Space Marines are many things but immune to exterminatus isn't one of them.

As an FYI I do not think the fringe areas near the Death Spectres In the Ghoul Stars region. . . How is that spitting distance? WOW here let me link a page for you so that you can do some reading. I know it will be hard but deal with it so that you get your facts straight.

Ummmm im sorry but unless you read the horus heresy and read what happened on istvaan which guess what there were survivors becuase captain tarvits was able to get a warning to those down on the surface about the virus bombs. Im lysenis freind and the one that came up with alot of the background for how the two chapters came to be and it is plausible. So please read the horus heresy cuase what you typed didnt make you look all that smart especially since i have read the whole series except the one with the tech adepts.

I meant that LUNA is spitting distance from TERRA. On the cosmic scale, we aren't actually too far from our moon.

Additionally, I don't remember what the Horus Heresy novels say, but if a Space Marine is on a planet while it is being virus-bombed, he dies. Period. Unless they were suddenly whisked away by the magical fairies that took them from the battle to a secret, hermetically sealed bunker under a mountain or transformed them into Necrons temporarily.

So you did not read the link. How ignorant can you be? Sorry we are not Eldar. Did you ever think that since they were Luna Wolves PRIOR to the heresy and when they were left in the systems in the Ghoul Stars that maybe the leader of the groups had a reason for naming themselves Luna Falcons?

As a heads up Wolfy up there has he book that has the Istvaan 3 virus bombing. . . This is going to be interesting though it is a waste of space I wish to see how this plays out. The only loyalists to escape the massacre at Istvaan III were those who fled in the Eisenstein. Period.


1,000 marines was a tithe of a full Legion. You suggested that approximately 1 in 10 Marines went on hiatus, left Horus's deployment and decided to chill within shouting distance of the Emperor, but made it there faster than the Eisenstein so THIS group was the ones, counter to the established story, to save the Imperium. Further, Horus didn't do anything about these 1,000 loyalists.


Or you are explaining that even before Horus decided to go renegade, he let one tenth of his marines just walk out on him, and they conglomerated into an organizational unit that didn't exist.
