What do you think will happen if the Imperium falls (if it falls) ?please dont hurt me inquisition!
Probably the two races that will gain the most are tau and orks.
I've recently become a fan of this thing called Dubstep. And you should too.

Da Moo Kowz is da drinkinest Orks of dem all!
Chaos: galaxy descends into anarchy. Eye of Terror and Maelstrom bleed over and the entire galaxy becomes daemonised.
Orks: galaxy descends into anarchy.
Tau: Enlightment and advanced technology for all...with the Tau being the dominant race, of course.
Necrons: Slavery and forced worship of the C'tan, possible resurgance of the Enslaver plague or the warp gets closed off entirely.
Tyranids: Nothing but dead worlds, until in a few billion/million years we start getting basic life again.
Eldar: Um, not going to happen, but if somehow it did, then the galaxy becomes regimented and puritan to prevent another Fall.
Dark Eldar: Same as now, but they'd incur less losses on their raids without an Imperial prescence to stop or hunt them.
None of those is the imperium falling as such though, is other races rising. Also I think your off with eldar and dark eldar.
It really does depend why the imperium falls. If all their tech fails, the tau would rapidly expand, orks would almost instantly overrun the emperium held space. Eldar would try and survive and keep orks of certain worlds. Nids would carry on as they are. Necrons may consider going back to sleep, depends how tastey orks are. Dark eldar would pretty much carry on as they are. Chaos I dunno.
If all imperial interstellar communication failed then orks would probably be kept in check a bit more although would still expand with the tau, just a bit slower than in the first instance. Necrons would probably fair better because the humans would probably last long enough for them to pen them in and defend their food. Nids would carry on as they are as would dark eldar although they would probably start raiding even more. Once again chaos not really sure.
I disagree on the threat of orks.. while they'd quicky expand their current territory, orks need a strong enemy to incite them to battle for very long. They're bred to fight, not to conquer. Without all those tuff imperial boyz to fight they'd ultimately fall into infighting before they got too far. Orks want to fight the toughest opponent around because that's what makes them grow individually and increases their numbers as a species.. if the toughest opponent is one another, then that outweighs anyone else.
Chaos: Abaddon achieves his goal of a daemon galaxy and the Warp spills out to create a giant Eye of Terror spanning the entire galaxy. Imperial citizens are transformed into daemons, mutants or Chaos Spawn and shortly afterwards Chaos goes on to dominate every single other race in the galaxy as well.
Orks: They get bored of having nothing to fight and move to a different galaxy.
Tau: The Greater Good wins the day, as always.
Necrons: The galaxy becomes a giant tomb, every Imperial is wiped out and the C'Tan become masters of all.
Tyranids: Perhaps the most likely option, they 'Nidify every planet in the galaxy and then move on to a different galaxy to slake their insatiable hunger.
Eldar: Unlikely, but they would try and arrange something whereby they were the dominant race but there was as little fighting as possible. Most races would likely eventually be killed by Biel-Tan or other similarly militant craftworlds.
Dark Eldar: I sincerely doubt the Dark Eldar have the combined military power to overcome the Imperium.
I disagree. The Imperium is to large to suddenly be fractured by an outside force. I say it would be a civil war.
I would say there would be a fracture in the Inquisition (what issue the fracture is over is arbitrary. Star child, atheism, foreign policy with respect to xenos, policy on the use of psykers/chaotic power etc.). Then the command structure breaks down, all Marine chapters are then freelance, governors take a side/break away etc. One side of the Inquisitoral war brands half the Imperium as heretical and visa versa.
Give things a centuary to boil over and there will still be lots of humans, just in little Tau Empire sized chunks, with marines periodically going round shooting up people (the Chapters having gone mad, with the definition of what they are ment to serve shattered).
