Blood Knights updates. I just started using the Grey Knights attachments in my army a few mounths ago when I got a copy of the Deamon Hunters codex. No one at my gaming club knew that GW had issued a FAQ over ruleing the Deamon Hunters codex rules on allies. Since I just found out about this I'll be changing my army. I hope you all like my fluff but just ignor the Grey Knights stuff.
I've been working on my own fan-fluff for a while and I'd like some feedback. Likes, dislikes, comments, tips.... Feel free to be brutal. Any inconsistancys, flaws, room for improvement.
This fluff is designed around the army I play, a Spacemarine army from the Blood Angels codex with Grey Kinght attachments from the Deamon Hunters codex. I've mashed the rules together to create a non-codex chapter that is game legal.
Here's what I've got so far, hope you like it.
The Blood Knights are descendants of Sanguinius but they are not a founding chapter, instead they are a chapter formed in blood, loss and betrayal. The second founding chapters of The Blood Reapers and The Knights Sanguine were both children of the great angel and close allies. Both chapters had their home worlds in the same sector of the galactic north. These worlds existed near the edge of a great Ork empire, one of the largest and longest lasting ever recorded by the Imperium. Shortly before the age of apostrophe, when the great warp storms that choked the galaxy were just brewing and serious restrictions in warp travel were just beginning to be felt, a great Warrgghh!!! was brewing within the Ork empire.
Both chapters had faced this threat many times before, having made their homes near the boarder of such a large Ork empire. Over the millennia since the second founding, they had become truly adept at slaughtering Ork. Learning how they think, how they move, how they laid their plans, the Blood Reapers and Knights Sanguine could derail Ork ambitions and bring an end to their lives and their plans with true artistry. The plan was elegant in it's simple brutality. A lightening strike at key targets, they would break supply chains, destroy ship yards and munitions factories then reign fire from the sky over the Ork capital, killing the warboss holding the wild, chaotic Orks together. With the snakes head removed the body would die. The Orks would spend the next century fighting amongst themselves until another warboss rose to unite them. Alas, all did not go according to plan.
As neither chapter made it's home on a brutal hell world, which would effectively weed out the weak and the soft they found it practical to cast a wider net when searching for new recruits. They would gather potential recruits from several surrounding worlds, infact, both chapters shared several of the same worlds for their recruitment. Unknown to all, the taint of Chaos stained several of these worlds. Agents of the cursed Alpha Legion had infiltrated these worlds. They hid themselves in the shadows, in the dank depths of the underhives and slums of the great citys, laying the ground work of their treachery. They would use their dark arts to plant the seed of Chaos in the minds and souls of young children. They would burry this seed so deep inside the mind of their innocent victims, not even they would know this seed lay within them. Every now and again a child would go missing, then return several days later saying they had simpley gotten lost in the dark city streets or tunnels of the underhive. Over the course of centuries several of these children grew into fine young men worthy of becoming SpaceMarines, and so, the cancer of Chaos infected the chapters of The Blood Reapers and The Knights Sanguine.
On the eve of their missions to derail the Ork Warrgghh!!! Tragedy and betrayal strook. Triggered by some unknown source, Spacemarines, believed loyal by all, believed loyal by themselves, turned on their brothers. Although numbering only several dozen in each chapter, several dozen Astartes with the element of surprise can do a lot of damage. At the fortress monastery of the Blood Reapers the traitors managed to activate the monistarys self destruct and reduce the once mighty fortress to a smoking crater surrounded by charred rubble. Many marines were present in the fortress that day, preparing for the campain against the Orks. less than 600 survived. The betrayal of the Knights Sanguine came once they had set off aboard their mighty battle barge and supporting strike cruisers. The traitors had taken control of two of the cruisers and without warning, rammed the mighty battle barge. Caught unaware with it's shields down, the vessel was crippled. Over 300 Marines died.
The Blood Reapers had lost their home, their chapter master, so many of their brothers and all the supplies, equipment, vehicles and re-supply capability needed to wage war. The Knights Sanguine's battle barge had been crippled beyond use and two of their five strike cruisers lost, they also found themselves unable to wage war. And they were both now unable to stop what was coming!
The two Spacemarine chapters, crippled and under equipped saw the simple practicality of joining together and so renamed themselves The Blood Knights. All but two of the Blood Reapers sangunary priests were lost when their fortress monastery was destroyed by traitors hands. These two were lost soon after in the coming Waarrrggghhh!! Without the sangunary priests the Blood Reapers no longer had the preserved blood of their Primarch and could not activate the implanted gene seed of any new asparants. And so, all future asparants of the Blood Knights would receive the gene seed passed down by the Knights Sanguine.
Isolated from the wider galaxy by the growing warp storms, what was left of the two chapters, the local Imperial Guard regiments and PDF's has no choice but to stand alone against the green tide. After decades of desperate fighting, one by one the imperial worlds fell. Infested with green skins, running wild, slaughtering the human populous, many of the planets surviving governors decided it was best to enact exterminatus once all that were able had fled the planet, rather than let their worlds fall into filthy xeno hands. With their worlds lost, human survivors that were able to escape Ork slavery were forced to live in hiding, to survive as best they could aboard refugee fleets or isolated asteroid colony's.
Homeworld (or lack thereof):
After the loss of their homeworlds to the overwhelming green tide the Blood Knights were forced to flee. (as much as it sickens an Astartes to do so) They fled to a large mining asteroid, the asteroid was extremely rich in raw adamantium thus made an ideal makeshift fortress to make a stand. Fortunately, several months before the Blood Knights were driven to retreat, the great Ork Warboss Skullbiter was killed after the fall of the hive world Natu, when the great fusion reactors were set to overload and deny the fallen world to the Ork scum. Without the mighty warboss to unite them, the Ork infighting soon started. After a siege lasting seven weeks the Ork invaders were defeated. The deep caverns and chambers of the hollowed out mining facility within the asteroid were slick with blood and littered with the corpses of slain Orks. With their empire crumbling from infighting as every power hungry, minor war boss made his bid for control, no new Ork re-enforcements or replacements were sent against The Blood Knights.
With no home to return to and pleased with the strength of their make shift fortress, the Blood Knights decided to make the asteroid their new home. They scavenged shipwrecks of once great Imperial Navy battle ships and the remnants of their own battle barges, towing the wreckage back to the asteroid for the Techmarines to use as raw materials and parts, They then gathered several hundred refugees and brought them to the asteroid as workers.
With a surviving fleet of 3 working strike cruisers and 15 thunderhawks, crewed by only 537 surviving marines from the two original chapters, the Blood Knights knew that all out war was impossible. They instead resorted to hit and run surgical strikes and pirate tactics. Without any means of supply from an Imperial forgeworld the Blood Knights had to rely on constant raids against the Orks and the craftsmanship of their Techmarines for all their needs. Conducting constant raids and recon missions into Ork territory in search of the supplies they needed also provided them with detailed intel on the Orks status. Because of the complimenting nature of their recon expeditions, supply raids and surgical strikes, the Blood Knights found it efficient to merge them on many occasions. Conducting a raid on an Ork supply cashe was an effective way to gather information on other targets and destroying the cashe after they'd taken their fill was a good way to strengthen yourself while at the same time weakening the enemy.
After 150 years of supply raids and constant construction work, the asteroid was fitted with huge engines and enough armament to exterminatus whole systems. The great Star Fortress Heavens Vengeance was born. Knowing that if the Orks learned of such a mighty threat they may unite against it and liking the state of infighting amongst the them, chapter master Samuel Barker decided to keep to the policy of brutal and brief, hit & run tactics against the Orks. Surgical strikes at key positions, hitting weapons stores, destroying ship yards and taking out any up and coming war boss that might unite the orks once again. The Blood Knights took every action to ensure the xeno scum would stay in their state of division and civil war. Although the damage the underpowered chapter could inflict directly was limited, by ensuring the Orks remained at each others throats, the green skins would inflict damage on themselves.
With patience and cunning, the great star fortress was only brought into action when they could be sure of no survivors. Raiding parties gathering supplys would often slaughter a few Ork tribes while planet side in order to bait pressures. None that followed the Blood Knights strike cruisers into the waiting ambush would return to speak of what they saw. When the opportunity arose, large scale assaults would be launched. Brutal assaults, killing tens of thousands then retreating before the Orks knew what hit them. In keeping with the Blood Knights creed of ''Strike hard, strike fast. Kill the enemy before they know what's happening, leave before the bodies hit the ground.'' Leaving only rubble and piles of dead in their wake, they would provoke the Orks and draw large Ork forces away from the planet in presuit. With few ships remaining on or around the planet, the chance of survivors escaping to reveal what they saw reduced, Heavens Vengeance would decend upon them! Once the strike cruisers evaded the Orks chasing them and the Orks returned home, they would find a broken, dead world.
And so, things continued like this for several centurys untill the great warp storms cleared and the isolated star cluster rejoined the rest of the galaxy. Upon regaining contact with the rest of the Imperium and their brother Marines, the Blood Knights called for aid from their cousins, the Blood Angels and many of the other successor chapters. Many ansewered the call and a feirce crusade of vengance and extinction was launched, reduced in streanth and lacking a strong leader to unify them, the Orks were slaughtered en mass! After another 107 years of slaughter, the Blood Knights first crusade of vengance was over.

Does your chapter freely intermingle the gene seeds of it's parent chapters? If so, is your reasoning that not enough time has passed for mutation to differentiate the two chapters from one another? Just curious.
I don't know why you are fusing with the Grey Knights in terms of game mechanics. The Blood Knights seem to be anti-Ork specialists extraordinaire.
You might want to explain how the Blood Knights get such incredible intelligence on the existing Ork command structures, supply chains, and armories. It seems just a tad too easy. I know that what you have put forth 'crush the head of the snake, divide and conquer' is a tried and true tactic, but the Orks don't seem very menacing, they are deftly neutralized again and again by an underpowered chapter.
The fortifying and reworking of the asteroid into the Deathstar, it seemed like a lil bit of a stretch to me at first, but then upon further reflection, go for it! Humanity is capable of some incredible and sometimes almost unbelievable feats when pushed to the limits, and these are Space Marines after all.
So now I've read this 3 times, and aside from advising you get someone to check your spelling (not trying to be a Spelling Nazi, it's just distracting to see 'apostrophe' instead of 'catastrophe') these are the only questions or issues I had.
The first time I read it trying to take it apart. If there are any glaring errors, I apologize, I am not knowledgeable enough to catch them. The second time I was double checking. The third time I read it just for fun. It seems quite an exciting tale indeed!
Thanks for a good read,
The game rules for this army come from the BA codex pluss the rules for Grey Knight attachments. I've just mashed the rules together to make my new, non-codex chapter.
The chapter is a codex chapter in most ways but differ in several key areas. The first is their numbers, they like to maintain a force of around 1500 battle brothers at any given moment, including two companys of scouts. This is due to the chapters history, they had scraped the verry edge of extinction for several centurys and know all to well how sudden tradgerty can strike leaving a chapter weakened and vunrable. They take great comfort in the security the exrta numbers give them.
The other difference is the Paladins. This company is formed of psykers raised from birth in the Academy. Trained to be both their greatest defence against the sneaking cancer of Chaos and their instrument of vengance against the dark forces that almost ruined them once before. Like most Blood Angel successor chapters the Blood Knights are assault specialists, their first company prefering to fly across the battle field on wings of fire and steel, like true angels of death, rather than slowley martching forward in terminator armour, so the specialist anti-deamon troops of the 2nd company are the chapters terminator company.
Aside from the usal recruitment methods of other chapters the Blood Knights also have the Academy. The chapters Sangunary Priests always have an eye out for skilled and valient psykers. When one is found, a tissue sample is taken and used to create a child in the chapters apothacary labrotorys. Once born from their maturation tanks the children are enroled in the Academy. Taught all there is to teach by their Astartes instructors the children grow into the most fanaticley dedicated and loyal, lethaly skilled and feirce warriors possible, worthy of becoming Spacemarines. All who survive the transfomation process and the path of advancement through the chapters companys are placed into the Palidins. The blood Knights second company.
The Academy was created out of necesaty. Having lost their recruiting grounds to the Ork Warrgghhh!!!! They found the isolated astoroid coloneys and scattered refugee fleets to provide slim pickings. Knowing they would die out unless they found a suply of worthy asparants the Blood Knights took the only action available to them, if they couldn't find worthy asparants, they would make worthy asparants. Taking new born children from the refugee fleets and coloneys as a tythe in exchane for protection against Ork pirates and slavers. The Blood Knights would raise these children into warriors of exceptional physical and mental streanth, worthy of joining the ranks of the Astartes.
Knowing the risks of putting all their eggs into one basket, remembering how the forces of Chaos had almost ruined them. Once the warp storms faded and the Blood Knights were free to roam the wider galaxy they decided it was best to draw new recruits from as wide a source as possible. Knowing that if they continued drawing all their numbers from the Academy, sooner or later, Chaos would find a way to creep in. In keeping with their new nomadic existance, roaming the battlefields of the galaxy in their great star fortress, they draw new asparants from the countless worlds they visit, always on the look out for suitable candidates.
Not wanting to give up the truley exelent quality of asparants produced by the Academy, the Blood Knights instead increased the harshnes of the training and implimented extreme measures to gaurd against the seeping cancer of Chaos, turning the Academy graduates into an elite force within the Blood Knights. Instead of taking new born babies, they took tissue samples from powerful and heroic psykers where ever they found them. Creating the new born babies in a test tube and growing them to term in maturation tanks, the Blood Knights have a ready suply of infant psykers for the Academy. Trained in every physical and mental disiplin to enshure against coruption and instructed in the holy arts of warding and dispelment by the chapters librarium. The Palidinsi of the 2nd company are an anti-deamon force, the match of any other in the galaxy. Where ever the Blood Knights face the forces of Chaos on the battlefield the 2nd company Palidins will be there at the heart of the battle.

Hey, thanks for the comment. A lot of that is stuff I've already worked out but you just pointed out a few areas where I negleced propper exposition. Thanks, points like that help me improve my story. No, I relized this would cause problems so here's my fluff explanation: All but two of the Blood Reapers sangunary priests were lost when their fortress monistary was destroyed by traitors hands. These two were lost soon after in the coming Waarrrggghhh!! Without the sangunary priests the Blood Reapers no longer had the preserved blood of their Primarch and could not activate the implanted gene seed of any new asparants. I have a Grey Knight attachment in my army so I need to include them into my fluff. Alough the Blood Knights hate the Orks with burning fury, this is little more than they hate all xeno sucm. To hate them any more would be to give them undue credit. Despite loosing their home worlds and so many of their brothers in the great Warrgghhh!! It was not the Orks that pressed them so. It was the vile cancer of Chaos! To give undue anamosity (anymore than normal) to the Orks would be to reconize them as somthing more than they are, filthy xeno scum, virmin, uworthy of the Emperors light. The true hatred and fury of the Blood Knights would be saved for the dark powers of Chaos and the filthy traitors that serve them.I don't know why you are fusing with the Grey Knights in terms of game mechanics. LONG AWAITED VENGANCE
The Blood Knights strike cruiser Burning Wrath arrived in orbit of the blighted hive world Thoron in the second month of it's siege by Chaos traitors intent on plunder and slaughter. Upon arriving, captain Alphel of the 4th company contacted the defending Guard regiment on the ground for an update of the situation. The central command and control, strategic headquarters of the local Guard in the capital hive city of Alexross was on the very brink. The Chaos invaders were at the gates and would breach at any moment. If the command centre fell the planets defences would crumble.
Within minutes of the situation update, the Stormravens doors were open and the assault squad inside were screaming out of the ash choked skies above the battered hive city and were hacking through the invaders below with such fury and violence, the Chaos spacemarines in their path thought death it's self was reigning down upon them. In a whirling maelstrom of chainswords and powerweapons the assault marines cut their way to the sieged entrance of the command centre so that the planets defence forces might hold until the Blood Knights 4th company could launch their main assault and drive the Invading forces from the city, then the world.
The advanced force of assault marines sent to hold the command centre had cut a path through the traitor scum in their way and prepared to take up defensive positions around the command centre entrance when, for a fraction of a second, they saw a flash of light. Before they knew what this light was, a monstrous blade, ten feet long, had killed three of them in a single strike. The leader of the Chaos war band, the great Deamon Prince Canus had appeared. Overwhelmed by the Deamons power the Marines were cut down in moments, until only the sergeant remained.
Even as the Deamon Prince slaughtered the advanced force sent to hold the command centre he could hear the sound of drop pods hitting the ground in the city and the roar of Stormravens filling the air. The assault squad had done it's job, the planets defences held and Spacemarines now fell from the sky to turn the tide. His chance for victory, snatched from his hands, the Deamon Prince would have his satisfaction. The only surviving member of the squad was the sergeant, knocked to the ground by the Deamon Prince with such force he could hear his own fused rib cage crack. Before he could regain his senses, he was pinned down by a huge hove, looming over him with a cruel smile on his face, baring his fangs in a way that would make even an Astartes skin crawl. The monstrous beast placed the forked tip of his giant sword over the sergeants left arm and slowly pushed it through, severing his arm above the elbow. Then his right arm, then one leg, then the other. Grasping a piece of jagged metal support beam blasted loose in the battle, he pushed the narrow end of the metal spike into the scabbing wound at the end of the stump that was once his right leg. Pushing the jagged, twisted metal into the wound until it went up through his pelvis and into his stomach the Deamon Prince then picked him up and drove the other end of the metal spike into the ground, leaving the sergeant standing there like a screaming totem. The last thing the sergeant saw before he finally lost conisnes was the Deamon Prince staring into his eyes with an almost playful expression on his hideous deamonic face.
Three hundred and seven years later. The home world of the Silver Wolves was under siege by a Chaos war band, hundreds of traitor marines at the head of an endless horde of lesser deamons. The war band had within it's ranks several dozen Chaos Sorcerers, constantly conducting their black rituals to summon an endless tide of warp filth to do their bidding. The Silver Wolves had been attempting to drive back the invasion for seven months but for every one of the deamons they killed, two more took it's place and they found themselves being driven back.
When the great star fortress Heavens Vengeance appeared on the outskirts of the system the first thing it did was fire a volly from it's nova cannons. The great rail guns, almost 20 miles long, launched their giant warheads, close to the speed of light, directly at the corrupted imperial navy battle ship outside the orbit of the Silver Wolves world. The first troops to be deployed to the planet surface were the 2nd company Paladin, clad in terminator armour, these specialist anti-deamon troops landed where the fighting was thickest. Drop pods reigned from the sky on the deamon hordes position and the Paladin came forth.
Hit hard by both the brutal onslaught of the Terminators and the damaging effects of the Paladins powerful psychic wards, the deamons began to disperse and retreat. Glad to receive the aid, the Silver Wolves met the Blood Knights with loud and heart felt cheers but the pleasantries were quickly over and the two chapters got down to business. The Silver Wolves informed the Blood Knights that the Chaos forces made their base of operations in a captured munufactuam facility, heavily fortified by masses of heavy fire power, dark magic and hordes of lesser deamons constantly spewing forth, the Silver Wolves had been unable to take the structure.
With their joined forces a strategy was quickly developed. A three pronged attack would be launched against the fortified base. Each chapter would dedicate their devastator company to an all out siege, one from the north and one from the south-west. The Silver Wolves would divide their 1st company of terminators between the two attacks and Blood Knights would also divide their anti-deamon Paladin between the two. Once the siege breached a hole in their defences the Blood Knights 1st and the Silver Wolves 8th companies would fall from the skies above. Delivered by Stormravens, also carrying several Furioso dreads, the elite veterans of the Blood Knights 1st company tore through everything in their path. A glorious swirl of glowing powerweapons and lightening claws lit up the crimson mist hanging in the air left by the arterial spray of traitors and deamons.
The battle went well. The outer defences were pushed to their limits, breach was imminent. Inside the fortified manufacturam, assault marines outmanoeuvred, surrounded and slaughtered their overwhelmed enemies while Furioso dreads wrought unimaginable havoc where ever they went.
Victory seemed certain. It seemed certain, that is, until an earth shaking explosion of supernatural energy's sent dozens of SpaceMarines flying through the air, killing many. As the smoke cleared, a huge, monstrous, hulking figure appeared. At it's side were several smaller figures, it was the leader of this Chaos war band and his retinue of sorcerers. The monstrous giant lunged at the assault squad in front of him at such speed they could barley react, killing them all in moments with a few swings of his monstrous sword. Seeing this, every sergeant in view of what had happened let out a fierce battle cry, ''FOR THE EMPEROR!!!'' This cry was echoed by every battle brother in ear shot. En mass, the assault marines charged at the Deamon Prince only to be thrown back by a wave of deamonic energy, some were hit harder by this cursed magic and horribly burned while others were simply knocked back. It was the Chaos sorcerers, they used their dark magic to sheild themselves and their master from attack, the Spacemarines may have been unable to attack but the Deamon Prince was not. Again, he launched himself at the nearest unit and cut them down with ease.
The fearsome Furioso dread Castigon was tearing his way through a building, several traitor marines had thought to fortify their position inside the building and make a stand. Castigon quickly put an end to this notion by levelling the building and everything inside it when he heard a fearsome, un-natural thunder followed by screams of death. He recognized these screams as coming from his comrades so rushed to aid them. As he rounded a corner he heard a mighty battle cry ''FOR THE EMPEROR!!!'' when a large group of lesser deamons blocked his path. He cut through them as quickly as he could when he felt a wave of deamonic energy wash over him, followed by more screams from his comrades. After slaughtering his way through the last of the deamons he rounded the final corner to join his friends when he......
He saw it. He saw it! The thing that still haunted him. The thing that was the focus of all his rage and hate. In a single moment the Red Thirst exploded inside him and he was taken over by the Black Rage. Charging forward at a speed no Dreadnaught should be able to move, he hurled himself at the Deamon prince. As Castigon was about to strike, a barrier of deamonic energy formed to stop him, but it could not! He hit the barrier with such force it could not hold him back. As the dark magic's of the barrier were overwhelmed, they whiplashed back into the Chaos sorcerers killing them all. With nothing to get in his way Castigon struck at the Deamon Prince with such a mad rage and blood lust it acutely put, what appeared to be, a look of fear onto the monsters face. Blood talons glowing and whirling, tearing at the deamons flesh, tearing of thin strips and bloody chunks of putrid meat with every strike. The creature tried to strike back but it was useless, his deamonblade could not find an opening through the constant swirling blood talons of the enraged dreadnaught.
As the Deamon Prince was stripped down piece by piece, covered from horns to hooves in deep, vicious wounds, he lost all of his strength. Broken and helpless, Castigon began to ease off on his attacks. Once the monster could no longer put up a fight Castigon knocked the creature down. He placed one metallic foot on the creatures chest, reached down and grabbed the deamons left arm and slowly tore it off. He then reached down and tore off the deamons right arm. Then it's left leg, then it's right. He then picked up the creatures giant sword and drove it into the dismembered deamons crotch.
As the deamon unleashed howling screams like nothing any human had ever heard before, Castigon raised the scured torso up high in the air. He raised his other arm with the heavy flamer attached and began to barbecue the deamon torso. Alough he had no face to show emotion Castigon was clearley verry, verry happy. After a little while the deamon stopped screaming and wriggeling on the end of it's scure so Castigon tore what was left of it to shreds with his blood talons and scattered the peices as far as he could throw them.
Alough the Deamon Prince Canus, Castigon's hated enemy had been killed, he had already been overtaken by the Black Rage and would not stop the slaughter so soon. The war bands leader was dead, their outer defences were berached and the Landraiders were rolling in. The battle was over, the day was wone but there were still survivors and lingering straglers waiting to be hunted down and butchered and Castigon had not had his fill. It was five days before the Blood Knights Techmarines were able to subdue the dreadnaught and return him to sleep.

soz for the busskill, but if you are trying to use blood angels with grey knight allies legally and with oponant's consent, i'm pretty sure you can't. i thought they could only ally with vanilla spacemarines book and the guard book. :p
Curly24242No, it's cool. DeamonHunters codex page 20 ''DeamonHunters units can be used as allies in any of the following codex armies: Spacemarines, including varient armies like Blood Angels, Space Wolves, Salamanders, ect ect''soz for the busskill, but if you are trying to use blood angels with grey knight allies legally and with oponant's consent, i'm pretty sure you can't. i thought they could only ally with vanilla spacemarines book and the guard book. :p
Good morning Skydog,
I liked the last installment, of the Blood Knights battles with chaos. A dreadnought going psycho? Interesting! I never thought of that, it's most cool to see!
Have any pictures of your heraldry or minis to share? Now that we've been reading about them, would like to see
I'm glad you liked the psycho dreadnaught. Death company dreads are one of the coolest things about the BA codex and fluff. Just the idea of a completley insane dread rampaging across the battlefield makes me smile.
Please, tell me what you thought of my last reply. Some of that stuff I had already thought of but some of it hadn't occured to be before. I came up with some fluff to explain it and I'd like to hear what you think of it.
Sorry, I can't show you any pictures, I don't have a camers.
METHOD IN THE MADNESS
One of the greatest chalanges to combating the Tyranid menace is the Shadow of the Warp. The screaming chatter of the great hive mind, filling the immeterium, disrupts warp travel and blocks out astropathic comunication. An approching hive fleet can completley isolate a system from the wider galaxy. Because of this problem it can prove extremley to dificult to even find the vast hive fleets as they move from system to system, consuming every living thing in their path.
Despite these chalanges, the Blood Knights are able to predict Tyranid movements with uncanny acuracy, being in the right place at the right time to intercept approching forces, leading Inperial forces in devastating ambushes and giving advanced warnings to Imperial worlds that would have been taken un-aware. For over 150 years the Blood Knights have desplayed an impecible track recrord fighting against the Tyranid menace.
Deep inside the Blood Knights star fortress Heavans Vengance, there is a cell block used when the Knights have need of live prisonors. In one of these cells is a man that spends all day and all night screaming at monstrous creatures that arn't there. Kept in restraints to stop himself clawing at his own flesh, trying to fight off the invisible monsters. A group of battle brothers is kept on constant watch over him, monitoring equipment recording every word he says in his fevered, paniced state.
This man was once the chapters Chief Librarian Zendrenael. 168 years earlier he fell victem to the screeching terror of the Tyranid hive mind like so many before. The Shadow of the Warp, the screaming chatter of the Tyranid hive mind could he heard by any psyker within several light years of a hive fleet, often dirving them completley mad. A disiplyned mind can block out the noise but a brave and reckless few, including Chief Librarian Zendrenael, thought to peer into the hive mind it's self and gain it's secrets.
If simpley overhearing the chatter of the hive mind was enough to drive a psyker mad, actuley looking into it was enough to kill all but the most powerful. Zendrenael, knowing the risks, but also knowing the threat the Tyranids posed, decided to take the risk, for the good of his chapter, for the good of the Imperium and for the glory of the Emperor. Attempting to skim the verry surface of the hive mind, he would spend long hours in deep meditation, his body stationary but his mind wandering the immeterium.
After several provisional successes, gleaming surface intentions and impressions from the monstrous hive mind, he tryed to go deeper. His fellow librarians burst into his chambers when they heard the screams, deranged and violentley lashing out, they at first thought he had been overtaken by the Black Rage, but they soon relized this delerium was somthing different. He had looked to deep into the hive mind and it had looked back!
Placed in a cell for his own protection, the chapters librarians would tend to his troubled mind, they attempted to use their psychic abilerty to sooth Zendrenaels troubled mind and return him to the great man he once was. As time whent by, one of the librarians that had tended to him for many years, began to notice patterns in his mad ravings, strance similaritys to status reports he had heard on Tyranid activaties.
Once he relized the conections between Zendrenaels ravings and the Tyranid status reports, he began to document Zendrenaels words and compare them to known Tyranid activerty in greater detail. To his surprize, recent reports reguarding worlds that had fallen mounths or even years before, matched perfentley, the ravings of Zendrenael at that time. It seemed, alough the contact with the hive mind had driven him completley mad, his mission had beed a success. His rantings and ravings describing events and scenes only he could see were descriptions of events and scenes taking place on distant worlds. The invisable monsters he was fighting in his cell were Tyranids he could see on these distant worlds asthough he were realy there.
Having relized the success of Zendrenaels plan, they keep a constant watch over him, making note of every word out of his mouth. Searching for the meaning in his madness.
