Death of an Angel, Birth of a Vengeance
All remember the night where the angelic primarch of the Blood Angels exchanged blows with the Snake Horus. All remember as the battle has been imprinted upon their memories, every moment captured by the Loyal and Blessed primarch, every instant, every action, every emotion, sent to his beloved Sons. The Blood Angels. For with his dying breath the Blessed Sanguinius sent a call to arms to all his brethren. Inscribing into their minds but more importantly into their hearts and souls the events of that terrible night, the night where the beloved primarch of the Blood Angels fell.
Not many had survived that attack, but those who did were hit by a greater curse than the one inflicted, even to this day to the direct Sons of Sanguinius, the Blood Angels. Amongst those few, was a young Captain who had served in Sanguinius' personal guard, his name was Alexandran. He had been on the ramparts of the Emperor's Castle when Sanguinius left their side to enter the Sacrilegious Battle Barge. The wave of Traitors and Daemons separated Alexandran form his primarch, separated him and yet unified him with a young group of Blood Angel scouts fighting to stay alive.
A small group of Bloodletters spotted the Scouts and would have made quick work of them, had Alexandran not stepped in. With every blow that Sanguinius took, Alexandran shared his wounds. With every strike Sanguinius gave, Alexandran spilled blood in the name of the Primarch. But when the Noble Primarch took his final breath, Alexandran slew the final daemon scum saving the Scouts from a certain death.
Upon the death of the Traitorous Horus, Alexandran had amassed himself a fighting force of 1,000 men strong. Every single one ready to give their lives for their Captain. And thus, when Codex Astartes was imposed to all by Roboute Guilliman, there were no questions asked when these same marines stepped behind Alexandran in his Crusade for Vengeance.
Hundreds of years had passed since that faithful night, when Alexandran forged the first bonds of his new Chapter. Once called Blood Angels, these Marines became filled with hate towards Chaos and soon called themselves the Venom Blood Angels, to represent their never ending crusade.
Many say that the Survivors of Sanguinius' Guard had inherited his voyant abilities. If so, then Alexandran knew very well what his duty was on the night of the great Chaos siege on Kavillion. The blood of millions had already been spilled across the planet's surface. The Final Battle for the Home World of the Venom Blood Angels was held at Vintus Keep, where the whole Chapter had regrouped and were now preparing for the worst.
Daemons, Traitors, Cults and Chaos Space Marines surrounded the Castle. They attacked it with every gift the Ruinous Powers gave to them. The Chapter master was there, their founder doing everything in his power to bring an end to the assault upon his planet. The Commander of the Chaos force aimed his vile weapon and shot Alexandran from such a distance that none saw the direction of the bolt entering the Captain's heart. All seemed lost, until a bright light from the heavens struck Alexandran in the chest, right into where the Vile bolt had struck him moments before.
This light seemed to infiltrate him, and then it became him, as he began to radiate with it. The Chapter Master of the Venom Blood Angels raised himself up, as he did so two wings grew from his back, piercing through the plates of his armor. One was as delicate as a Dove's the other as leathery and violent as a Dragon's. Alexandran turned to his servitors, removed his Death Mask, smiled and jumped off the ramparts letting his wings carry him to his prey.
It was no longer the Captain who landed 10 feet from the Chaos Lord, but a Winged Chaplain. Swinging his Blade, he cut through the wall of daemons and traitors in a matter of seconds. He ran up to the Vile Lord of the Ruinous Powers and stabbed him straight through the heart. He continued the movement until his Blade was plunged into the ground and whispering these final words:"i shall bestow Retribution" Alexandran released Sanguinius' final gift to his Sons. A great blast followed the slaying of the Lord. The Light that ensued from it engulfed the whole planet and when the marines recovered there sight, all that remained on the battle field was the charred bodies of the traitors and the untouched corpse of their Founder.
Times of Darkness, Enter Blackord
A decade after the great siege, the Ruinous Powers got their wish. Kavillion fell to the Despoiler's Planet Killer. The Remnants of the Venom Blood Angels were forced into Exile. They followed the Planet Killer swearing to destroy it at all costs. After two centuries of pursuit the Planet Killer disappeared from sight and only rumors of its destructive power remained amongst the Chapter's Elders.
Their chase had led the Venom Blood Angels to a small sector within Segmentum Obscurus. They would take residence upon a desolate planet, that they called Kavillion Secondus. With no inhabitants or opponents the Venom Blood Angels lived in relative peace, but all know there is no peace for the Warriors of the Emperor.
It's proximity to the Eye of Terror should have warned the Sons of Sanguinius that Chaos would come, yet again, to lay ruin and waste to the Impirium of Man. The attacks started with simple Xenos raids, by the infamous space pirates known as the Dark Eldar. But soon Chaos would join the fray as the Dark Eldar settled into the northern parts of Kavillion Secondus. Small hordes of Slaaneshi followers appeared across the worlds surrounding the Venom Blood Angels home world and soon their influence was strong enough for an Army to emerge...an Emperor's Children Force.
But not all was lost, as more and more planets fell under the control of the Emperor's Children, for the One known as the father of the Thirst had risen to power within the ranks of the Venom Blood Angels. This Ingenious and Noble Chaplain took every battle to heart. His name was Blackord and he re-conquered many worlds from the hands of the Emperor's Children, leaving them no choice but to brutally retreat to Kavillion Secondus.
By then the Dark Eldar menace had been eliminated, with help from the Black Templar Fraetir Crusade. With this new threat on their hands, there was room for no mistake, but with the Noble Blackord's tactical abilities the terrain lost was gained quickly after.
Chaos hides the Light
The years that followed infuriated the Prince of Chaos, as his Chosen constantly were refused a solid footing upon Kavillion Secondus. Transmitting his orders to the Vile Emperor's Children Lord, Gryff' Rodh, Slaanesh made sure that his warped dreams would become reality.
The Emperor's Children amassed every able man to fight, and positioned themselves just outside of range from the Imperial Base. The attack began with brutality. As most of the Venom Blood Angel weaponry was focused on the key elements of the Chaos Force, a Possessed rhino sped to the western wall and crashed right into it, causing it's engines to collapse. But the damage had been done, and the vile plan was being followed.
Gryff' Rodh and his retinue, 6 Chosen and his Queen, stepped easily out of the immobilized Rhino. At that moment Chaplain Blackord and his Death Company exited the Chapter's Chapel. Both titanic forces met in close combat in the moments that followed. The battle that ensued was one that would be remembered till the End Times.
Battle Brothers versus Traitors, the blood of good fighters soaked the land beneath their feet. The Noble Blackord fought on, tearing apart three of the Chaos Chosen with ease. But as he looked around him, his men were dying too. Marines he had grown up with, Marines he would die for...In front of him he saw the Queen viscously cut apart a Death Company marine with her claws. "Vengeance for the Fallen!" was Blackord's only words as he jumped to where she was. Both the Noble Chaplain and the Corrupted Queen were at each other’s necks.
But as quick and Damned she was by the Ruinous Powers, Blackord had the might of the Emperor on his side. With a swift parry and a brutal swing, the Noble Chaplain brought an end to the battle. With her life slipping away the Queen let out a shrill scream that would have given goose bumps even to the most battle hardened commander. Turning around the Lord of the Emperor's Children saw his "love" hang on by a thread. It did not matter to him, all that matter was that Slaanesh got his wish. The trap had been set and the prey fell right in. Gryff' Rodh swiftly threw an Obsidian Dagger at Blackord's chest.
Slaanesh's gift burrowed itself deep inside the Chaplain's chest. Immediately the minor Daemon trapped inside released itself into the Noble Chaplain's Heart. As Blackord fought to seize control of the dagger and the Daemon, the chosen grabbed him and tossed him into the newly repaired rhino. The Lord of the Prince of Chaos gently picked up the inert body of his Queen and slowly followed his chosen back to their keep...
The Corruption, the Thirst grows
Blue and white lightning crackled around the sadistic tower upon which Noble Blackord was chained to. The chaos Lord had done the unthinkable; he had captured an imperial chaplain. With a cruel smile he spread around in a perfect circle the crushed dust of various precious stones. When he completed this mundane task, Gryff' Rodh kneeled in front of the chained chaplain and began to whisper snake like words, words that were used as a prayer to the Prince of Pleasure.
Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck the orifice where Blackord stood chained like a dog. An unholy light soon radiated from the Noble chaplain as he screamed out of pain and agony. The Lord of the Ruinous Powers began to laugh as he witnesses Blackord's torment...after what seems to be an hour the Noble Chaplain fell to the ground, and after only 15 min of respite he raised himself back up...but all Holiness is gone, as now he is nothing more than a puppet of Slaanesh...
The second attack came sooner than expected. The Venom Blood Angels were still slightly disorganized from the loss of their Beloved Commander, Blackord. It came as no surprise when Vermento took power, him being Blackord's chief advisor. Both forces met upon a ravaged field, south of the Venom Blood Angel home base. The battle began in utter chaos, both sides wanting Vengeance for the torment that had been caused by their foe.
A Rhino soon zoomed passed the amassed Chaos force in direction of the Imperial HQ, Vermento and his Loyal Honor Guard. Vermento called the charge upon the daemonic vehicle just as Gryff'Rodh stepped out. As lightning flashed the second marine to exit the rhino was seen and recognized by all...Blackord stepped out of the rhino now corrupted and dedicated to chaos. Demanding Vengeance Vermento ran towards the Blasphemy that was Blackord.
The battle that ensued between the old comrades was glorious, as one would attack only to meet the others parries. Not a single blow wasn't deflected. Both fighters’ eyes were locked in a dead gaze. Within Vermento's burned a passion for vengeance, within Blackord's burned nothing at all...but for all his passion, Vermento was still no match for his master.
Vermento became weary and there stood Blackord preparing to end it all. But just as he brought down his cursed weapon, Blackord froze. He looked at his old troops, both dying and fighting for what they believed in, what he had thought them...he no longer held in his hand a daemonic weapon, but a shining Cruzius Arcanum."You shall all bestow Retribution...maybe not today.... But Vengeance shall be yours!" he told them with a powerful voice. It disappeared soon after to be replaces by a cruel laughter, as he slaughtered Vermento.
Now inspired by the sacrifice of both their ex-commander and his counselor the Venom Blood Angels repulsed the chaos attack. Their counter strike was powerful enough to force chaos into hiding, thus allowing them a moment's respite to honor their dead. But the peace would not last long, peace can never last long for those who have drunk from the cup of Vengeance...
Redemption through Blood and Darkness
Many versions exist of how the Crimson Sons were born into the materium, but only one remains true to every Space Marines soul. Everything had been taken away from them...their Noble commander, their Honour and their Right to serve the Emperor of man. The Venom Blood Angels soon seperated into two factions: those fateful to Blackord and everything he believed in and one fateful to the Inquisition. A revolution soon broke out upon the planet...one of Brother vs Brother. The blood of millions was to be spilled, for neither side would step down from their beliefs. The Loyalists of the Inquisition, also known as the remanents of the Venom Blood Angels, lost the war to those who seeked Vengeance, the new chapter led by a devoted Chaplain, the Crimson Sons of Vengeance with Commanding Chaplain Alvoro at their front.
Having eradicated their past and their own Brothers, also known as the Fallen, their Redemption int he eyes of the Emperor and their mission to eliminate the Inquisition could begin. Many battles ensued the creation of the newly born chapter. Some against there own brethren but many against vile Xenos such as Chaos, Tyranids and Dark Eldar.
But the true Redemption fo the Sons began when the arch-ennemy rose against the Emperor for the 13th time. The blood spilled for the cup of Vengeance upon that period was enormous. Every one of the Sons fought with dedication and fury. Holding their ground valiantly till the last man. They even set aside their differences with the Inquisitors to aid them in repulsing the Chaotic fleets. Not only did they defeat there mortal ennemies but the Sons also made a new ally...within the Space Wolves 13th Company. A Sapce Marine Chapter on its own that could understand the thread that the Sons faced after the Black Crusade was pushed back.
Unexpetadly, after many many years of fighting once again int eh name of the Emperor, the Inquisition re-instated the Crimson Sons of Vengeance into the Adeptus Astartes. But even with their Honour re-instated...the hate remains....
