What the heck are hruds? I've seen them mentioned in the Chaos Space Marines codex, but I can't find a description, not even in the 4th edition rulebook. Does anyone know?

IIRC, they are like the abominable snow-man, but with claws and brown hair. I think that they have a picture of them in the 3rd ed. rulebook, where they had a pic of a necron and the kroot.

    They are sakven form 40k.

I was planning on making a hrud army and I still am... once I get more into 40k of course.

Hrud may become and official race.. maybe. GW is apparently going to add a new race, not just another imperial army. It may be hrud, but it may be any other multitude of things like the Slaan... no one can be sure.

If they do, it'll be a few years at the very least before it comes out. Remember that they still have a few Codices to look over and the Alien Hunters to work on.

Aaah, Ordo Xenos... but Hrud and Slaan are so seldom mentioned they seem too minor to get their own lists... perhaps they'll be enslaved/hired infantry for radical Ordo Xenos? That would be very fluffy, right along with radical inquisitors of the Ordo Xenos hiring Kroot mercenaries.

The Hrud are an ancient race who, even though they were simple and crude in their technology, surpassed even the Eldar in social and psychic abilities.
But when their homeworld was engulfed in a warp storm they were forced to leave their planet and became nomadic. They found a new home on an abandoned Imperial Hive world but soon realised that the world was tainted by Chaos.
They therefore were forced to build their communty deep underground in an attempt to be safe but some became affected and mutated horribly. The Hrud soon became masters at burrowing underground and their senses evolved to deal with the darkness of the underworld.
Continuing to be a nomadic race they now travel throughout the galaxy, colonising new planets as they travel in search of riches.
The Hrud are masters at night fighting and wear heavy black robes to shun their fragile senses from sunlight.
This is a quick summary.. hehe... look in the rulebook.. there's a pic of a Nocturnal Warrior of Hrud somewhere.. they look like ratty little jawas...

Are you sure you're not referring to the Slaani, as far as the ratty jawa goes? You know, the one in the "Xenos Threat" section of the 4th rulebook?

I haven't seen the new rulebook yet... but unless they've made some serious changes in the fluff the Hrud are little ratty jawa type guys and the Slann are almost like lizard men...
