Hello all. I have had the idea of having knights from some time in the future, mainly as i want to make an army based on a brotherhood that isnt part of the existing 1000. I thought that maby the Inquisiton in cooperation with an alien race modify a teleportation device. A brotherhood of knights would be sent to the present time in the 41st millenium. This group would set out to destroy whatever chaotic forces it encounters to stop events before they happen, stopping chaos from overpowering the Imperium.
Is this a viable option?
That's what these 1000 GKs do already- kill every Daemon and cult they can find, so that the Imperium will not be overrun. Why waste the effort of saying that they're from the future? There are far easier ways to explain their having better gear or a knowledge of the future (working with AdMech, Emperor's Tarot / Black Library), than saying that an Inq worked with aliens to build a time machine.
Even if you did want them to go back in time- just send them through the warp and call it a malfunction. But like I said- why not use the original 1000?
Fair enough. I plan to have my army reflect the background exactly, so i would need a brother captain but they do not really appeal to me leading my knights. Being from another time would allow (well i think it would), to slightly modify the structure and leadership roles in a subtle yet very similar way, leaving them still as Grey Knights, as well as being led by an inquisitor who see's almost nothing as above and beyond. Therefore they would hunt chaos rather than react to it due to their altered nature.
Well i hope that makes sense and clears up why I went with this idea
What exactly is it about the structure that you don't like?
Basically with the structure each brotherhood is led by their brother captain in battle, but i would rather the command of an inquisitor. With the "dirtying their hands" this wouldnt occur very often and would be carried out by either the inquisitor personally or his henchmen but would not resort to anything that for lack of better words is "unpure".
As for the difference from what i have read it seems that they tend only to fight the Daemons, while I would have them hunt all chaos, from lowly heretics to traitor legion. Sorry if this isnt the case but i have only managed to get my hands on some of the more recent fluff.
Interesting... if that is the case maby they simply set off and appeared hundreds of years earlier...
I guess i could just say the brother captain does not play an active role in battle. Appart from that and their purpose i guess they are the same traditions and all. Therefore the only difference would be their knowledge of events and their purpose, having traveled back in time due to their frigate's warp drive playing up, as well as being led by a powerful and influential Inquisitor.
