The Castimonia Forces, originally only the grand black ship turned battlecruiser named the Castimonia, has grown well in 200 years of shadowy pirate-like attacks, quick surgical strikes against what it considers heresy, and an almost dire need to delve into and contain the secrets of the Warp and the corruption of the Ecclesiarch.
Having spent over two centuries on the dark fringes of the galaxy known to Terra, The Castimonia Forces have prospered as well as any independant human colonies shunned by everyone else could. All forces true to the Imperium know Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor Lord Babel to be a renegade, heretic and traitor, as well as every damned soul that serves under his Castimonia banner. The forces of Chaos shun him as well, for his beliefs of loyalty to the Emperor without loyalty to the "False Imperium" is just as bad as the current Cult Imperialis. What's more, a previously dedicated Inquisitor Lord named Goliath betrayed Babel and nearly destroyed the Castimonia as he joined the Thousand Sons. All manners of sentient xeno despise the men and women of the CF for their constant kidnapping, research and eventual destruction of their most respected psykers and spiritual leaders, all in the name of scientific discovery and advancement... for themselves. With few allies to turn to, the CF have had to depend on fringe planets and corrupted forge worlds for their resources... and they have them well in hand.
Having planted seeds of corruption through psychic manipulation in four different forge worlds, the CF have established a strong source of the machinations they require, while ten different fringe planets support their ranks of doctrinated stormtroopers, well-versed Castimonia Truth-keeper Priests, and utterly loyal Castimonia Guardsmen, the bulk of the forces protecting inquisitors in the absence of the Order of the Flamma Purus, the lone order of sisters of battle dedicated to the Castimonia Forces. Another military resource, albeit rare, are the few space marines who, while turning from the traditions of their Dark Angels chapter, were not executed due to Lord Tobias's last-minute intervention when attacking that very chapter for previously preventing him from invading a nearby cardinal planet. Greatest of all their resources, as most inquisitors within the CF will tell you, are their unbound and well-trained psykers, each with their own abilities dedicated to the maintanence of the black ships they ride in, and a very small number trained to be sanctioned psykers or librarians.
It is said that almost forty inquisitor lords serve Babel, and a countless number of lesser inquisitors serve those lords and ladies. All except Lady Phieryus, Lady Junia and Lord Tobias are fairly unimportant, and usually run lesser errands and duties for the CF. Almost all of them are psykers who showed a particular knack with their ability as well as the other duties of the Inquisition.
After escaping his fellow Inquisitor Lords of the Ordo Hereticus after being proclaimed a heretic, Lord Babel's first task at hand was revenge. For forty years a nearby forge world had been constructing a massive warship of unbelievable firepower named the Vendetta, even going as far as to be loaded with a titan on the top of it's hull. This ship was quickly requisitioned and assigned to Lady Junia and her, at the time, short-handed staff. The Imperium could not locate them for four months before they reappeared... orbiting over Phiy VI, the cardinal planet that had carried out the proclamation against Babel and his inquisitors. Siege was laid to the cardinal hive city where the inquisitors met at that time of the day, and all were executed in the bombardment. Before the fleet could properly respond, the Castimonia and Vendetta had vanished. Further accomplishments, such as the recruitment of several planets, the acquiring of both many xeno and Imperial psykers and artifacts, and the execution of many Cult Imperialis servants all line the hall of blasphemous records dedicated to Babel and his crew in the Ecclesiarch cathedral built on the ashes of the eradicated hive city in Phiy VI.
Mistress of the Black Ship Vendetta and Canoness Superior of the Order of the Flamma Purus, Lady Junia is the greatest military commander of the CF. Having command of thousands of Sisters of Battle, a legion of stormtroopers and henchmen and several psyker-supported platoons of the Castimonia Guard, as well as the Vendetta itself and several other battlecruisers supporting her wherever she goes, she is almost destined to appear when the CF needs true military might instead of the usual small, surgical hit and run tactics it's used to. She is also pursued the most of the havoc wreaked on Phiy VI and the destruction of several unsuspecting merchant fleets.
Headmaster Officer of the Castimonia Guard and Mistress of the Black Ship Firebolt, Phieryus is a hot-headed inquisitor who believes that hiding in the shadows does too little and carrying out massive military action is too much. Using short but effective military strikes against installations and fortifications, Phieryus's inquisitors are usually trained to get in, get what they need, and get out before Imperial forces have any chance of responding properly. Infamous for despising psykers and lacking any psyker potency herself, (thus being the only High Inquisitor Lord without psychic powers,) she is the inquisitor lord most concerned with still eliminating the old threats that they always used to deal with: the heretic, the mutant and the psyker.
Inquisitorial Master Force Commander of the Maimed Eye Space Marine Chapter and Master of the Black Ship Shade, Tobias is the second hardest inquisitor to catch red-handed, usually finishing with a site before anyone else in the entire system knows he's there. Supporting by a council of librarians he himself trained, his black ship always acts alone and is always cloaked all too efficiently for anyone besides the Imperium's greatest psykers to detect. Other than this, nothing is known of Tobias by any other inquisitor other than his master, Lord Babel. Tobias's very existence is known only by those in his black ship, Lord Babel and Lady Junia, while Lady Phieryus knows only hints of him and all other inquisitor lords have no such knowledge.
Lord Babel and the Castimonia
Ordo Hereticus-Castimonius Lord Over-seer of the Castimonia Forces. Master Director of the Castimonia Alpha Projects. Creator and Master of the Castimonia itself. Leader of all who follow the Castimonia Creed. Ever since the betrayal of Goliath, Babel has been all too cautious as to how close he allows other inquisitor lords to get to him, and dwells all too often in the Warp to avoid the Imperium's attacks in empty space. Having been in the Warp for nearly a millenia, (although only 170 Terra years in normal space time,) the Castimonia has gone through more warp and wear than most Chaos battlecruisers and titans. The hallways constantly shift with the screaming faces of those who died as it's servants. It's trio of master Navigators, all traitors to the Imperium, have long since been fused into the ship, immortal in their absolute servitude. It's army of pentinents protect it from the full force of the Warp as they scream in agony, whilst psykers of untold power and unchecked alpha-level power work with Babel to bring self-control and to ward off the daemons that threaten to consume their minds. All who serve on the Castimonia have long-since faced mutations of some sort or another, be them members for a mere twenty years or a long-time master of their craft, serving Babel for centuries. And of Babel himself? Aside from the contact through psychic bonds, nothing is known of his present state. His chamber, wherever it may be, is hidden from hallways and psychic teleportation alike. His three greatest sister hospitalers and three most powerful sage-servitors vanished into his chamber with him when the Warp took affect on the ship. It's hull, before a gleaming mirror black, now shifts and moves, reflecting the half-predicted death back at whomever looks at it's foreboding surface. To attack the Castimonia is to waste ammunition, for it can flee to the Warp on a whim and regenerates like a living creature with it's mutated hull. It is a breath short of becoming dedicated to the forces of Chaos, and it is only through the will of Babel himself that it has not already done so.

Every whisper of the future from the Warp speaks of a hundred battles lost, a thousand lives devoured and a million enemies born. -- Inquisitor Lord Babel
I like the bit about the mutation to,it reminds you that he's fighting hard against Chaos as well as the Imperium.I hope you don't let him fall to Chaos..he's just too cool to be a daemon puppet.
what force drives anyone to make something that beautiful.

Take my love, take my land, take me to where I cannot stand; I don't care I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me.

Babel, the only thing that I have to say about that is genius. You write like a GW expert, and should probably have your own story in the SMurf book. I like the fluff a lot and I look forward to anything else about it. I could probably come up with something, minus the fact I know very little about the Warhammer 40k world. What sources do you get that give you so much info on things? ^_^ Keep up the great writing.
A good general does not lead an army to destruction just because he knows it will follow.
