I've been reading my rule book and the heresy books ive got and just everything i can get my hands on, I've noticed on most of the lists i have of the Primarches theirs a few missing. does anyone know who they are? the ones that got deleted?
Nope. There's an insane amount of speculation about the 2nd and 11th Primarchs, but absolutely nothing concrete other than they were 'forgotten' by the Imperium on command of the Emperor during the Great Crusade, and the other Primarchs were forbidden to talk about them. Anything else you hear about them would be speculation.
i hope that one day they bring them to light, would you care to share what you've heard about them?
There is pointedly zero information on them at all; when 40K was first released, there were only legions, no chapters (including the two missing legions). The gaps were there so that people could legitimately make their own legions. They've kept the missing legions there, and never filled them in at all, apart from this implication:Which implies that they were wiped out by Imperial forces at some point, probably during the Heresy. The meaning of victory is not the defeat of your enemy but his utter destruction, to eradicate him from living memory, leaving no remnant of his endeavours, crushing utterly his every achievement and removing from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the true meaning of victory.
In one of the Horus Heresy books Horus travels back in time and sees himself in a jar along with the other Primachs. Two of the jars were cracked and the occupants dead.
So, the 2nd and 11th Primarchs died whilst being created by the Emperor. Maybe the Emperor tried to create Astartes from the remaining Genetic material but perhaps they too were doomed to the same genetic flaw that killed their Primarchs? Maybe they survived and the Marines were consumed by other Legions?...... Maybe the Emperor deemed them too dangerous to live and killed them himself? The truth will never be known.
As for rumours and speculation, most comes from the HH books, especially the later ones. 'Thousand Sons' has Mortarian begin to hint that warp mutation/sorcery were the reason at least one Primarch disappeared (he's told to shut his mouth quickly), 'Prospero Burns' has some Space Wolves comment that their assault to destroy the Thousand Sons isn't the first time they've been sanctioned to do so, and 'The First Heretic' has Lorgar muse that the Emperor forbade all mention of the missing two Legions, and later a Word Bearers Legionnary mentions rumours that the reason the Ultramarines outnumber all the other Legions so much is because their ranks swelled after either the 2nd or 11th (or both) disappeared.
Oh, alright then my mistake It has been a good few years since I've read that book. Interesting about the ranks of the Ultra Marines swelling. I haven't managed to read the First Heretic yet.
Do so. Best book of the series IMO, and it made Aaron Dembski-Bowden jump to my 2nd favourite 40k author. Even before MacNeill and Abnett.
It's very old fluff though, Rubinek was likely the result of the author getting primarchs and chapter masters mixed up and the Valedictors were around back when ultramarines were a 3rd founding chapter... The Sigmar stuff also goes way back and has long since been retconned when the two 'universes' were separated.
More recently it's implied that the Space Wolves/Russ killed (or at least fought against) at least one of the two missing primarchs.
The original missing legions represented the missing roman legions XVII, XVIII, and XIX led by Publius Quinctilius Varus.
You cant pry out of my mind that, that human giant in baroque armor that trazyn(from the new necron dex) has as a keepsake is somehow related to the whole thing...
Praise be to the Emperor!!
