Well once again I am in need of help, I've switched from SM to Eldar and after thoroughly reading the codex and a lot of articles on the internet I still can't seem to make a start. I'm too puzzled!
I want to field a lot of Rangers and Banshees, so I was thinking of a band of space faring explorers/hunters (noble pirates if you wish) or a Craftworld..
But that is as far as I can force my brain, I can't get an grasp on the language and thus name my Eldar force or any significant Character nor can I really explain what they are, how they operate and why.
I am not asking for someone to make me fully developed fluff, but can someone point me in the right direction? help me make a start and get things rolling?
Thank you in advance,
Here are two sites that may help you with Eldar language.
Eldar Lexicon - Lexicanum
David Donachie's Website : Eldar (home)
If you want alot of Banshees you can say that Jain Zharr has spent alot of time on your Craftworld. This would mean the setting up of lots of Banshee shrines to train them. Also you can say that they use alot of Rangers to provide intel on the movements, intentions and actions of the other races. Unlike other Craftworlds where the Rangers are outcasts or loners your Craftworld encourages this because of the benefits it can bring. The Farseers use this in conjuction with their fortelling with runes to decide the best action for your Craftworld to take.
Thank you those websites was just what I needed!
Also, Path of the Warrior seemed a bit 'meh' to me, I've never liked Striking Scorpions, so a novel about one doesn't seem interesting to me. Or am I wrong in assuming it's only about the Scorpion? ( I've only read a small excerpt that's on the BL website.)
Here is a review of it.http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2010/...av-thorpe.html
I have read Path of the Warrior and Path of the Seer and both of those books are not about Striking Scorpions or Farseers in my opinion. Even though both characters become one as the title suggests. Instead as the review for Path of the Warrior stated it is about the Eldar. More specifically they revolve around three friends and how they each get caught up in the conflict of Alitoch. The center of the stories is about their personal journies and how they affect their friends and families around them. Not since some of the Guant's Ghost Novels and the Commissar Cain series has so much attention been played on character development in a Warhammer novel.
Seriously though, if you like the Eldar, it is one of only 4 books that I know of about them in the 10 years or so I've been in this hobby. Read it.
