What is the most likely 40k army to be in alliance with space marines ?
coz they don't seem to have many friends....
Depends on the chapter. The Imperial Guard are the obvious choice, or pretty much any Imperial force can be justified fighting for a common cause. Some chapters may ally with "good" xenos where necessary, there are several stories of uneasy alliance with Eldar or Tau. What chapter are these Marines? Because that makes all the difference, the BTs for example are not going to ally with eldar while a more pragmatic chapter might accept it out of necessity.
A few specific alliances in the past :
Blood Angels and Necrons (The Gehena Campaign - brofist!)
Ultramarines and Tau (Battle of Malbede)
Black Templars and Sisters of Battle (The Vinculus Crusade)
Crimson Fists and Eldar (Battle of Traitor's Gorge)
Most Marines are practical enough to make alliances of convenience with non-Imperials, excepting Chaos. More than that isn't going to happen without serious repercussions. Nobody has many friends in the 40k universe.

I was just interested..
...except the Tau, they have lots of friends. Most Marines are practical enough to make alliances of convenience with non-Imperials, excepting Chaos. More than that isn't going to happen without serious repercussions. Nobody has many friends in the 40k universe.
Army's used: Space Wolves, Tomb Kings, High Elves, Tyranids, Tau and Eldar.
Marines will ally themselves with most organizations in the imperium with some exceptions (space wolves don't like the inquisition after the war on armageddon, the black templars probably wouldn't fight with any psyker with the exception of the grey knights). Outside of the imperium, it isn't unheard of for space marines to ally with the Eldar (Blood Ravens and Eldar) and Tau to fight even more threatening such as Chaos. The one I find the most out there is the blood angels allying with the necrons to fight the tyranids. While it is very uncharacteristic and odd, it technically still is canon... Honestly, the Imperium is too xenophobic that most of the time they will fight xenos instead of allying with them unless the mission cannot be accomplished without an alliance. Then, it's just a matter of time till each side decides to betray the other...
Yeh space wolves dont like the inquistion but they could still ally with them, eg in HH space wolves fought alongside thousand sons despite their dislike of them.
or conversely Grey Knights would fight a space marine chapter that was getting in their way of cleansing a tainted artifact but that doesnt mean grey knights would fight every space marine chapter.
