this is the first peice of fluff i've written so go easy.
i haven't actually made a model or rules for this thing. i just felt like writing stuff about tyranids.what do you think?Munitorium strategic intelligence collective/magos biologis
The great devourer as you may know has shown an extraordinary ability to adapt to new situations. This has lead to the forced evolution of the organism Tyranicii Domitianus codenamed the alpha tyrant. While they are still a rare sight on the battlefield and on appearance look like particularly large hive tyrants, their biology shows remarkable differences:
The obvious difference is size. The one existing recovered specimen exhibits a mass 73% more that that of a common tyrant. While the tyrant lacks wings, it is still disturbingly fast and agile. Its great strength means it can easily cut through even the heaviest armour and its psychic abilities show a massively strong connection to the warp, though with the mental presence of the hive mind, there is little danger to the creature from any malignant warp entities.
Its biology exhibits more redundancy in the major organs, such as the circulatory system, than any other previously captured tyranid specimens, making the alpha tyrant particularly resistant to incapacitating injury. What’s more interesting is the blood stream shows remarkable concentrations of phage cells compared to other specimens, displaying an amazing immunity to poisons, viral infection and bacteria.
The internal organ structure is also geared towards strength and resilience. The chitin armour shows the presence of new polypeptide strings, acting to strengthen the carapace and protect against high levels of heat and radiation.
The tyrant’s senses seem to be very over developed. Its ocular organs are huge in size and complexity, though all six of them are sheltered within deep recesses on the tyrants face. Its auditory and olfactory organs show similar leaps in size and sensitivity.
The tyrant’s synapse master node also seems very overdeveloped. Its purpose seems to be to increase the synapse range of the hive mind. But without a live specimen, this was impossible to authenticate.
Due to the size and complexity of this organism, a large amount of resources and time must go into the growth and development of each one. Therefore they are usually heavily protected by tyrant guard and a mass of lesser tyranids. For the meantime, these tyrants remain very rare. Though it is beyond doubt that this new stage of tyranid evolution will bring more such creatures, unfortunately with these enhanced characteristics being mutated into other tyranid species, such as the Tyrnicii Prefeceta as well. For the meantime, we can thank the emperor that such evolution takes the hive fleets much time.
You should have enough time to develop strategies and plans against these new threats.
