(Keep in mind Im pulling this from my mind. My actual documentation on this 'should' be back in my keeping in December, since I just moved).
It all started long ago, on a backwater planet called Earth...
Long before the Dark Age of Technology, there came about a gathering. This gathering was of the world's (Earth's) greatest minds and strongest and most wise of human psychics. They came together with an understanding and a purpose, for Humanity was growing in power but not growing in mentality. Civilizations came and went and no matter the amount of work that went into humanity, the result was the same in the end. War, Human Strife, Self Destruction. Little is known of these people other then they were the greatest that humanity had to offer at the time. These wise men/women decided to imbue all their abilities, knowledge, and wisdom into one vessel, so that they may create a mesiah. It is hinted that they used a convict, someone who was strong, healthy, and able bodied, but whos mind was bent solely on destruction and crime.
In a little described ritual they put all of thier psychic abilities, wisdom, and power into this person, totally destroying this person's mind and sweeping away his soul, only to be replaced by all of those wise men and women who created him. Thier souls all went into this being, killing them all but at the same time merging all of that was them into one being, a being bent on saving humanity from itself.
This being, stripped of an identity wandered across the Earth helping humanity where it went, but always remained elusive and passive. Over time this being came to the realization that no matter what he did passively that always there would be those that would not use passive means to destroy or subjucate those that did. Thus this being, going by many names but claiming none started a following. This following spread, as belief in that he could change humanity as a whole spread with his word, and those that spread it before him. For here was a being that had travelled as humanity travelled across the stars. For all the technology that they possessed, millions of worlds fought each other in wars of genocide and self destruction, destroying all the work and human unity that enabled them to travel so far. Amongst these wars and strife that also reflected on Earth, The Emperor came into being. He existed before but not as the Emperor. When his following came to cover all of the Earth, Uniting all the existing nations under one banner, the Emperor spread his influence across the Sol Solar system.
Mars being the closest, was wracked with strife as well, different technological factions vied for power. Only one of those factions allied with the Emperor, and thus came into power when the Emperor and his following swarmed thier enemies in a massive battle to end all battles on Mars. Thus came into being the Mechanicus.
The Emperor went on a huge quest that conquered thousands of systems and worked the functions of humanity together so that internal strife was non existant. Humanity needed a beacon in the darkness, and thier belief in this super man to unite them if you will, empowered them to work together to create massive fleets and a power base that became the Imperium of Man.
It was not enough though. No matter the amounts of victories, the price that was paid in blood was so much. In an attempt to create perfect soldiers to fight the war to unite humanity, he created many children with his own altered DNA and the top medical science that existed, creating what we call the Primarchs. Now it is not known how many he created (GW decided to keep this open so that people could create thier own Primarchs and thus their own chapter lines), but it is known that some internal coupe against the Emperor had all of his 'perfect' children fired in special tubes into the warp. The Emperor quickly struck down those that did it but was unable to recover his children, thus he took their genetic remains and with his own flesh and blood completed something called now, the Gene Seed.
This Gene Seed enabled the creation of entire legions of space marines to be created. Super soldiers that fought in the Great Crusade, the crusade to unite humanity. As the Legions spread throughout the universe, some of the Emperor's children, the Primarchs were found. Due to being created as blank minded but empowered with greatest of mind and body abilities and strengths, each that was founded was formed and molded under the conditions of thier growing up.
This of course became a great boon to the Emperor as his children, those born with the ability to lead as he could lead, could spread the Great Crusade ever further and faster.
This of course was a time when to be a Mutant was not always a bad thing. This was all during a time when Humanity could alter its DNA at will to live on normally uninhabitable planets, become navigators of the warp as it grew in turbulance, or as psychic communicators and seers. This eventually brought about why the Horus Heresy became so strong, as the new chaos gods exerted thier powers through the mutant. From here you know what happened, Horus Heresy, massive glactic scale wars, and the reforming of humanity after all that strife back under the banner of the Imperium.
the first bits kinda dodgey about the crimnal mind but yea the rest seems about right its good very accurate.
Remeber men, we are fighting for the ladies honour, which is a damsite more than she did
I like it,it's certainly better then the whole "Death of a million shamans" junk that GW got rid of. I think they should uses something like this to explain the Emporer's existence instead of saying "Oh yeah...he's um,an immortal guy that's been like, watching over humanity forever.Yeah that's it.."
Stupid GW fluff monkies >.>
Edicius, hes saying this is the old official fluff predating that whole Shaman Suicide thing, and this is what they replaced it with. (or at least I think, going by post title). Not a whole lot different from the current fluff really.
So does that mean the most recently updated background fluff on the Emperors is the one with the Shaman mass suicide thing?Originally posted by Addoran@Dec 4 2004, 10:47
