both are expunged, meaning that they are either wiped out or branded heretics. but that still mean that 2 legion sized sm armies are roaming the galaxy, wouldnt someone have noticed them in the last 10k years?
just a thought...

oh and i geuss im so un-mainstream that i just dont see any reason to call the csm's chapters, factions or not. oh well thats my problem so ill live with it :closedeyes:

Here's the way I see it....
The Emperor made 20 Legions and then marched them all over the galaxy conquering over a million worlds, finding Primarchs along the way. By the time the Heresy happened, there were only 18 legions. 9 turned Heretic, and 9 stayed loyal (just wanted to straighten that out). One possiblity is that one or both of those legions was destroyed before the heresy due to genetic instability (which has been a constant thorn in the side of the Space Marines for as long as theyve been around). Perhaps the Emperor found only 18 of the original 20 Primarchs, and so their legions died out without having additional genetic material from their primarch. Maybe their Primarch was killed in battle during the Great Crusade and the legion died out as a result. Maybe they refused to join the Emperor and so the Emperor killed them. Maybe they were unsuited for life as one of the Emperor's sons (but daddy I don't want to rule, I want to sing!). Maybe the Emperor censured them for misbehaving and had the other legions wipe them out. Maybe they were lost in the warp like the Fire Hawks. Its a big universe out there, and even if the Emperor lost those two legions, that's still not a bad rate of attrition. I don't think that those two legions are meant to still be floating around somewhere... I think they are meant to be destroyed.

I think they're meant to just hang there in limbo in case GW needs to use them for something.It's all about startegic marketing.Run out of campaign ideas? Oh look! It's one of the lost liegons come to make us more money! People losing interest in your Cash..er..I mean Space Marines? Oh look! It's one of the lost liegons come to save our wallets!

i think one of the missing legions might actually be the adeptus custodes. anyway it's all in connection to the Roman Legions a couple of those went missing.

what happens if the 2 primarchs were never found/ killed and their respective legions were merely broken up and inducted into the 18 other legions.
its kinda vague, and a bit corny, but its still a valid answer...

One legion ended up as draft dodgers as they refused to fight in the Nam. The Second ended up being court marshalled for showing the emperors daughter their willies! See Space Marines Do have a sense of humour after all!!!

no no you have it all wrong, when guys become marines they get castrated, weeps for the 1000 chapters, why else wouldnt they get any urges...

Somebody please PLEASE show me where it says men are castrated when they become Marines.Honestly that's just plain sick.Who the hell started that rumour?Space Marines are NOT castrated upon initaition.When becoming a marine the initiate is so severley brainwashed and the hromones in thier body so severely altered that the need to engage in sexualy activity is almost eliminated.They are taught to view any urges that remain as impure thoughts and trained to overcome them (whis is highly possible, there are monks in certain religions who live thier entire lives without any sexual contact what so ever)

Other things that keep space marines from doin' the nasty. Thier bodily fluids are poisonous and acidic. They Wiegh at least 300 lbs (136 kg) on average,which is a lot of wieght for a woman to have on top of her..especially when the average woman only weighs about half that much.Also the marines muscles generate enough power to force thier bare fists through solid steel, if you think about all this muscle power pushing the marine's hips foward,and the object against wich all this force is being exerted is a fragile human female body..the end result is not a pretty picture.

So y'see? Just because they don't have sex doesn't mean they're not capable of doing so.It's just that unless there are some very freindly rhinoceroses herding around the fortress monastary,they're not gonna be able to mate with anything without tottaly decimating the poor girl.

Perhaps that's why one of the missing liegons was discharged?

I personaly think if they ever do come up with fluff reasons for why the liegondisbanded,I think one of them probably turned traitore before the Heresy started and where eradicated by the other liegons.They were probably erased so that the Imperium would go on living ignorant (for the most part) of Chaos's existence,just as most citizens of the Imperium are now. The only reason they didn't erase records of the Heresy is because no matter how powerful and sneaky you are,you can't erase the memory of half of your Empire turning against you.
