After The Emperor Will Be Gone...

People say that when the Emperor (if he will ever) dies humanity will be annihilated. I dont agree with that. At the moment (in 40K) Humans are in the age of religion. We have Inquisitors, witch hunters, etc. Once the Emperor will die humans will reach one more age of Technology and survive. We will have something much more effective than the old rusty Space Marines, the Imperial Guards will get even better equipment.

The following will for ever dissapear: Sisters of Battle, the Inquistion, Witch Hunters, (perhaps) the Space Marines, and other Emperor based "organisations".

Maybe humanity will discover technology which will be safer, and faster than Warp Travel?

Small problem, the emperor functions as a psychic shield for humanity. The old fluff that Im not sure if still relevant says how the reason the emperor was created and the psykers killed themselves was because their souls were being preyed upon in the warp and not being reborn. They saw that mankind would be doomed and so created the emperor whos psychic powers keep the daemons at bay. If the emperor's psyhic shield went down.......in a couple of generations humanity would go extinct. I don't think that will ever happen however, what with all those old hints that if the Emperor dies he will be reborn (and hence immortal again)

Maybe before the Emperor will fall there will be a Final Crusade that will close the Eye of Terror? Humanity managed to do that in WH:FB (I guess)...

BTW If Humans managed to held back the demons in WH:FB without the help of a Psychic Shield I think that is also possible this time... dont you think?

The list goes on and on. Then youve got to remember I dont think the Eldar/Tau/Any other race particularly want to be ruled by the cronies of Khorne/Nurgle/Chaos in general. Chaos is (admittedly barely) bottled up in the Eye of Terror, the Imperium spans a galaxy. I can't really see the imperium falling any time soon.

ally to the imperium or not, if the emperor goes than i doubt they would hold up their oaths as allies to the imperium. and i think the inquisition would go after them anyway.
all the other groups listed would be as you have said, but probably not the adeptus mechanicus...
