This has probably been brought up before but there are so many threads i get side tracked and eyes hurt from all the reading etc so its just easier to do this.

A renegade army, have a chaos lord with the ability to take elites/troops choices from other codexes. I have read that you could do this if you equiped them according to their particular codex. So in doing this i could have say troops choices with orks and another as imp gaurds or sm etc. And similar with fast attack or elites, heavy support and so on. I'm sure people are saying 'why the hell would you?' or 'why the hell bother?' Purely for something different. Obviously not all could go in this army, ie damon hunters would never be a part of it, except to wipe the army out. and nids probably wouldnt go either. So with this concept has anyone gone and done this? What i want is for people to tell me what units they think would work together etc, i just think a rag tag army like this would be really kewl.

SO GIVE ME YOUR INPUT PEOPLE

you are the first person in my 3 years of playing this game to say that. but imagine, warp spiders obliterators, firewarriors, veterans, and a battlewagon rolled up in one army...

Difficult to explain some of them.. Why would space marines, even renegade ones, want to fight alongside a bunch of filthy orks. But still, it's within the realm of posibility, I guess, especially if we're talking chaos. Corrupted orks do exist, after all.

And you'd have to be -really- careful not to send balance out of the window. These units were put in seperate codexes because they have individual strengths and weaknesses. Combining them could produce a really challenging and varied army, or it could be an excuse to come up with crazy combos which would just annoy people.

I'm not entirely sure, but I suspect you'd need your opponents permission as well.

NO one in their right mind would let you. Have you ever played a two v. two game with imperial guard and tyranids on the same side? If you have, then you will understand why it would be your own fault to let some play an army made of everyone's codexs combined. there is a reason there are different codex'z in this game

Yeah, advice noted, getting permission will be a big thing, basically id work out what i would like to include, post it, and see what people have to say. Personally i dont see nids in this army, with all the fluff about them i dont see it working with them and dont really want them either. Basically i was hoping to combine IG, SM ORKS and CSM using their traits and skills as listed in their respective codex's. This would give a very different flavour to the army. I'd work out a particular paint scheme and they would all be painted the same colour yet with different sprues etc. I'm wanting to draw elites from chaos, troops from all 4, fast attack from IG and SM, heavy support possibly from all 4. HQ would definetely have an undivided chaos lord to make it work. I'd really like attack bikes and sentinels in fast attack. I'm yet to get an Orks codex. What do you think so far?

Well we had a good ol' 3 vs 3 chaos vs order battle a while back. And we had a Necron (me) player, a 'nid, an SMurf, a Smurf and 'nid, a Tau and chaos, and one person with a squad of marines, a squad of firewarriors, and an old tank. We switched things around so the last player would be ok and we split into 3 teams and split units of order and chaos between players on the respective side. We of chaos had 6 HQ's so i got 2 Lords and my 'nid friend got his Tyrant and my Nightbringer. The order were very organised. 2 all space marine, typical forces and one tau/kroot force. Now our 3rd player...

Well, he ended up with a ripper, 8 spine gaunts, 8 sythe gaunts, A Hive Tyrant, A chaos Lord, 8 chaos marines, a chaos dreadnought, 12 Necron warriors, 3 scarabs, 4 pariahs, 9 firewarriors and 3 gundrones.

This battle was extremely fun. Of course we lost because he got bored and wasted all his fire on one squad of assault bikes... you should of seen our original HQ squad that we gave him (but Order denied it...): A Nightbringer, 3 tau fire warriors, 2 scarabs, a ripper swarm, 2 flayed ones, 3 Necron warriors, and a Tyranid Warrior.

Mixing armies. Fun, but very rigged.
Necron will stand for eternity.Their race has survived aeons by trading their very souls for metal bodies. Now, they will live on through eternity and will vanquish all life from our universe. For they are Necron. Flesh is weak. The machine will rise!

Damn that sounds like fun but also makes me laugh at the long list of units player 3 wound up having. Yeah trying to build an army the way im suggesting could be rigged or certainly built in my favour in regards to choices. If a unit can align themselves with chaos then i dont see why there should be a problem. SM & IG can be turned, heaps of fluff about this, orks are badd, should be ok. There is a lot in the back of daemonhunters as to who and why they would fight so should help my case.

I just wish more people would respond to give their opinion, i dont see why an army like this isnt possible.

The lost and the damned list is in the Codex Eye of Terror so that should help you find it.
