I've knocked this up for my Lost & Damned army, any thoughts about how I could expand it/improve the style? I'm primarily looking for the latter, as this isn't the be-all-and-end-all (for example, the Alpha Legion aren't mentionted as the prime cause of the original cult, which I'm assuming to be the cause and using as a reason for Aspiring Champions in the army).
I want this set within the narrative of the Eye of Terror campaign, that's primarily why I wrote this.
And please forgive the stealing of the names here.

I would bring to your attention the heretical cult of the Word of Chaos on Narsine, and request reinforcements to deal with this newly emerged menace. While I appreciate that your lordships are more than strained in dealing with the outbreaks of disorder and invasion within this segmentum, I request that the Word of Chaos is dealt with as soon as possible, for reasons I intend to relate forthwith.
The cult started out, as many newly emergent rebellions did, in the wake of the Voice of the Emperor. While this in itself may merit concern, it has fallen deeper into the stench of Chaos since the emissaries of the Voice created a new cult on this planet approximately six standard months ago. I believe that there was some more malign influence either already present on Narsine or has arrived since that is to blame for their further descent into Chaos; I personally would guess at the former of these as large numbers of individuals within the cult are corrupted to an abominable degree, too many to have been affected by the whims of the Dark Gods so soon.
Possessed members aside, the Word is a very efficient and too organised group to be a mere populist chaos cult uprising. They have seized large stockpiles of weapons bound for Cadia, and control large areas of the planet that are used for their manufacture. They have advanced so far as to have the planet's main spaceport under siege. Given that almost half of the population of Narsine have joined the cultists, it is surely only a matter of time before the already stretched defences crumble and allow these heretics to spread their plague offworld.
As their control over Narsine spreads, the Word has a very real potential to become an endemic infestation in the sector, especially if allowed offworld. Their ruthless efficiency and control of an industrial world will allow them to spread quickly if their attacks go unchecked, and any subsequent cleansing efforts will in all probability have to deal with years of guerrilla actions if the Word keep up their customary high levels of organisation.
But if contained, they may eventually degenerate into mindless mutants and cease to pose a threat, for although the rate of mutation has in my estimations slowed of late, it is likely to continue. But this must be a last resort, as I am certain that your lordships do not wish to lose a vital industrial world such as Narsine. And I must reiterate that even containment seems an unlikely prospect for the future given the current levels of military personnel remaining here.
I request aid as soon as the Emperor wills it.
Your obedient servant,
Nice work, dude.
Hmm, why not do another piece, maybe a narrative, which gives us the cultist's side of the picture?
But ultimately, this is exactly how it should be. Not too big and flashy, and without falling into the 'we're so big and bad' trap which fluff so often does.
Keep it up,
This is exactly how fluff should be. all you people who do the "we're the best" line, start taking notes.
More fluff would be excellent for this, and if you got an army list or so up for battle reports, you could post them with how their progress to the space port and then offworld will go. it's so unbelievably cool to see it in action. For example, my new boss's narrative that's been going on for some time is dueling with Dark Angels on a small 3-world Ork empire. i'm just about to throw them off the planet, but a recent re-enforcemet of Nightwatch Marines and IG colonial fleet is gonna make the task harder. It's amazing how much fluff can build from a few games. try some out, and post it back here, and it should make an excellent read.
Yeah, this is excellent! TY Angel of Rust!

man thats good..cant say much cause applebone says pretty much everything i would say. my narrative has the last thirteen marines of my forty man strike team pinned down in a building.(good thing ive got thirteen or else id be worried... )
Take my love, take my land, take me to where I cannot stand; I don't care I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me.

I've got a 1,000pt army list so far, which is meant to be as they're just emerging, slightly prior to this report (and so no mutants apparent). I'm not going to be able to do a lot of battle-fluff in a hurry, as the army isn't actually assembled yet, but I can wait. And if it happens before I shift location myself, it's going to have to be Chaos squabbles. Fancy invading a world, Tom?
As for "the Cultists' side of things", I'm not sure what I could do. Short story I suppose, but focused on what, the machinations of the Agitators talking to the Alpha Legion? Ideas would be good.
What I have so far, in skeleton form, is:
1) Endemic cult on Narsine led by Alpha Legion marines slowly grows in numbers
2) The Voice's emissaries arrive on Narsine
3) Original chaos cult comes out into the open to preach, under the guise of members of the Voice
4) This happens so much that the original Voice cults die out, and the Chaos cult is vastly expanded in membership, while maintaining the facade of the Voice and bringing increased disorder to the planet
5) Focus shifts slowly from doing things right by the Emperor to getting the message right from some "higher judges of worth", allowing the introduction of Chaos as a pantheon (not sure quite why Alpha Legion would do this, as they aren't too Chaotic themselves, any ideas?)
6) Mutation sets in on the original cult members
7) Majority of Narsine now under the Word's control
Spaceport falls and they launch offworld to crave adventure and excitement (never their minds on where they are, what they are doing)
Sorry, couldn't resist.

Sure I'll invade a world, that spending spree today was crazy, so with luck, I'll have an army to do it with sometime.
I'm sure Alpha legion are chaotic, why else would they set up chaos cults in the first place. They're just a bit more independent than the other legions, and don't spend as much time in the eye. The only reason they don't field daemons themselves is because you need a lot of belief (like a planetwide cult! to summon them that far from the warp.
Don't kill Yoda with a stick! Use a pointed stick, it's quicker.
