Hey I have a vague memory of Navigators being able to be used in 40k games. Is there any way for this to be possible now?
I always thought they were pretty rad fluff wise (I am aware btw that they are alot like the Navigators in Dune).
Also does anyone know much about them besides what's in the bgb? I don't read Black Library books much but maybe someone could recmmend one to me that has alot about Navis if there is such a book.
I just read a thread where someone mentioned that Navigators can kill with thier Warp Eye. Awesome. Reminded how cool they are.
My 40k fluff is a tad rusty but, the navigators or one of the few mutants allowed by the Imerpium and =I=. They are the only beings able to see the Astronomicon (sp?) with as all should know is the psychic beacon the Emperor spreads out that allows ralatively safe travel through the warp.
And for this the familys are basically an asset of Space Marine chapters, for it is they who flys the ships while in the warp. Their third, or "Warp" eye allows them to see the flows and currents as well as paths through the warp, but for any mortal or non psychic being attuned to the warp to look upon the eye will die (think looking into the abyss).
This makes them quiet wealthy and important to the Imperium, without the Navagators no warp space travel would be possible.
Oh and this should be in 40k fluff.
It is also rumored that their third eye, the one that can see in the warp, can kill with a glance. That is why they keep it covered when around others.
Edit: and as I remember, there is lots of info on them in the fourth book of the Space Wolf series by William King.
