The fluff for my army is qiute simple.
The imperium has been using psykers to guide them through the galaxy using the emperor as a big red shiny homing beacon and has long since strived to find a technology thet will alow them to navigate the warp without psykers.
The Tau have now created this technology but it is still in its early stages of use, so one warband of Tau and some kroot accept the mission of trying his new technology.
When the imperium heard of this technology of course being the selfish gits they are want it for themselves and decide that the Tau should have this technology taken from them.
On first ignition the technology works but they are fired upon by imperial shops and it malfunctions sendin them to a planet goodness only knows where.
Any sugestions on how to better this fluuf will be greatly accepted

A few questions:
What sort of planet did the lost Tau end up on?
Are the Imperials looking for their "compass" still after them?
Who are the Tau's leaders, and what are their motives now they are so far away from home?
My secret, shameful desire is a three Ordo army...
(I know I'm bad...)
if your talking about astronomicon as i think you are, then the tau cant use it as they have no psychic presence in the warp in order to be able to see the light of the astronomicon. though th idea of a lost tau colony is a good idea

So this is the "some people get seperated from their forces and crashland" plot device. Its getting a bit tired to be honest.
