I was reading an article about the grey knights and it mentions that they are handpicked from a very young age and taken to Titan (one of Saturn's moons), where they are implanted with thier gene-seed. When i read this, a question popped into my head. "Whose gene-seed do the Grey Knights use?"
Does anyone have any idea?
"Orkses is never beaten in battle. If we win, we win, if we die, we die, so it don't count as beat. if we runs for it we don't die niether, so we can always come back for anuvver go, see!"
"The Space Marines fear no evil, for we are fear incarnate!"
"We warned you of the price of your actions, now you must pay it in full-in blood." -Eldar message recieved prior to the Assyri Devastation
the empores own gene seed
making grey knights like 3nd gen primachs
2nd being custodes
and 1st obviously the primachs
“I am the Hammer… I am the Sword in His hand; I am the point of His Spear… I am the right hand of my Emperor, the instrument of His will, the gauntlet about his fist; I am the bane of His foes and the woes of the treacherous. I am the end!
Its only rumoured that they use the Emperors gene seed, as far as i recall. Havent picked up the DH codex in a year or two.
"It fits like clothes made out of wasps!"
The Emperor doesn't really have a gene seed, that's why he needed to create the primachs in the first place.
I think it's meant to be a mystery, and is probably best left as such rather than forming strange theories about how they're all mini-primachs.
There is a chance they have their own gene-seed. I really doubt the Emperor left that lab go to waste and when the High Lords and the Inquisition needed a Deamon-hunting chapter they could have flipped through the remaining genetic samples and thrown together a more refined Gene-seed than the original 20 Legions had.
Grey Knights gene seed comes straight from the Emporer. It was created after the Great Heresy because the Emporer needed a chapter to be pure and fight Chaos. Its in Index Arteres 2 and in the Daemon Hunters Codex. Read  I collect Grey Knights
Purge the daemon where ever it may be!
Just because you collect them doesn't mean you know everything.Read I collect Grey Knights
The bit in the DH codex about the Emperor's gene-seed is a RUMOR - as in, the book says that "it is rumored to come from the Emperor". Index Astartes isn't accurate in terms of Grey Knights anymore, since they've gone through a huge change to be made into a full army.
Problem is, the Emperor doesn't HAVE gene-seed, like The_Giant_Mantis said. The whole reason GW leaves that issue a mystery is so that no once can say where they come from! They DON'T have a Primarch, and they aren't made from other chapter's seed. It's a mystery.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the Grey Knights where made using a variation of the Primarch project. I mean nobody has yet been able to recreate the Primarch project with the same results, but given that the GK have no Primarch, and they're reportedly made with the Emporer's DNA (just like the Primarchs *dramatic music*) I bet they where made in a simular way. Just a thought. :shifty:
did the custodes have a primarch?
You can never have to many pairs of socks
Sure he's something but hes no bowl of special k
No..niether did the Grey Knights. The Custodes aren't quite Space Marines, they're more advanced.
