cmon folks i dont know enough fluff to do this without conflicting with current fluff
You mean desecrating their dead.. Desecrating them could be reinterpreted as something a little different.Originally posted by xitheblade@Feb 24 2005, 05:47

Okay, presumably the population of this planet doesn't produce any more dead than any other world, so why are they obsessed with 'keeping the graves?' Do they come from a culture which venerates ancestor worship (as a form of the Imperial Cult, of course, kind of like Voodoo incorporates Christian elements.) That might be quite a fun idea, give them warrior weapons, shrunken heads and other bits of 'primitive' paraphenalia, and you're set.
caretakers of a saints grave possibly?
somehow i picture loads of hooded warriors and priests
I still hate Twiglets!
Ya with Inquisitors and stuff, maybe ally them with Witch Hunters

That's actually a pretty good idea. Assuming that all of the troopers come from the Plantery Guard, and that the Planetary Guard is concerned with letting no one desecrate the graves, which are all unmarked (for reasons I'll get to in a moment), it could work like that.Originally posted by Shadows Coil@Feb 24 2005, 15:16

Let's assume that at some point in time someone important to the Imperial Cult, a saint, dropped dead on the planet. Was buried, in an unassuming grave, which was then desecrated by a chaos cult on planet. Was beaten back by the Planetary Guard and IG, and the Planetary guard was charged by the Ordo Hereticus to rebury and santicfy the corpse of the saint.
So, they bury him/her in an unmarked grave, remove the markings of all the other graves so therefore no such thing happens again (chances of a chaos cult finding the right grave when there are how many unmarked??).
Gives them a reason to be anti-chaos desecration, and explains why they'd be so fervent in the execution of that goal. Add to that that they do come from a background of ancestor worship, and it all fits quite nicely.
