In the Horus Heresy book it says that all the legions who turned traitor at Istvaan had abundant loyal marines. Most were massacred by their traitor brethrens but some escaped like a captain and a couple hundred men from the Emperors children. Anyone have any idea of how these loyal marines might have ended up.
Well, since most loyalist marines don't live 10,000 years. They're likely to be pushing up daisies.
Even if that wasn't true.. I'd imagine most were exterminated by the Imperium shortly after the heresy. Imperial beliefs seem to state that a chapter which goes rogue must have had weaknesses and impurities. That, and they carry the gene seed of figures who are now bywords for evil in the Imperium.
Those that survived being directly killed off were probably sent on silly penitent crusades so that they'd all die that way, instead.
Harsh, perhaps, but we must remember that the Heresy almost destroyed the Imperium altogether, and initially, it was by no means certain humanity was going to survive at all. I sincerely doubt they had much room for tollerance.

There were 70 loyal marines who boarded a ship and warned the emperor. They were lead by Captain Garro from the Death Guard. It is not sure if the other ones were only from the Death Guard or from all Chaos Legions. Anyway, what happened to them no one knows. Some say they were exectued, others say they died during the fighting on Terra, others say they were simply forgotten and the most fantastic view is that they formed a secret unit to fight chaos = Grey Knights.
before Horus ambushed the loyal legions and revealed his treachery he orbitally bombarded Isstvan III simulationously luiring the loyal legions to the planet and offering up the lives of the planets inhabitants to the Chaos gods
During the bombardment, loyal Adeptus Astartes officers and troops still loyal to the Emperor managed to seize control of the frigate Eisenstein. They had discovered the rot that had been spread through the Warmaster’s subordinate Legions, the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Legio Titanica, and the Legio Cybernetica. As Horus completed his withdrawal to Isstvan V, the loyalists fled into warp space, carrying a warning to the rest of the Imperium and arriving at Terra. The seizure of the Eisenstein is regarded as the start of the First Inter-Legionary War.
the only other details i've ever heard was that there was 80 (i don't think it was 70 but i may be wrong) Marines some were Emperors children others were Death Guard but i imagine there were others from some of the other legions under Horus's command
