I've been looking around on the internet a bit, but I can't find much more on juvenat drugs.
All I know is what's in the IG 'dex: "Techniques of prolonging youth and vitality. Usually highly expensive and reserved for senior officers or Imperial nobility".
Does anybody know the effects of these treatments on the user?
Just curious, for fluff reasons.
If anybody could give me some more info on juve', I'd be happy!
They make you live longer...basicly. O.o'
Can be drugs, chemicals, surgeries, all kinds of things I'm sure. Some of them reverse aging, some merely slow or negate it.Very expensive stuff however you do it.
I figured as much :p
Anyway, I'm looking for a legal reason to have a blind officer. Maybe caused by side effects of juve'
Or maybe he just wasn't supplied them, and got burned in the face? It doesn't have to be a weirdly technical explanation for blindness. Although why they'd keep him in service if he were I have no idea.
Because he's had surgery on it.
I wanted some fluffy reason for my CO to have a surveyor type item, disguised as eye implants.
Juvenat drugs don't really have any side effects from what I've read. They just slow down the aging process.
If you want a blind officer just have him hit in the face with a flamer (be sure to model lots of scarring), or better still, he killed a tyranid with acid blood, or got bio acid spat in his eyes, or a crate of photon flash flares exploded while he was inspecting them etc etc etc.
It seems a bit cheesy to claim your officer has eye implants just so you can use a surveyor without modelling one, if you ask me.
I would suggest you read the Eisenhorn trilogy.
From what I gather the fairly powerful/wealthy can achieve a lifespan of something around three hundred years.
These would be through the drugs and surgery.
Augmetic use of bionics would prolong life even more.
Whoso would be a man must be a non conformist
People should be taught what is, not what should be.
They're commonly used by Inquisitors and Sisters of Battle, since their occupation demands a long lifespan and they're able to take it virtually free. The Eisenhorn books have Sister character who's something like two hundred and looks about thirty, except with white hair.
Basically, the rejuvenat drugs improve your lifespan, but with varying results with each technique; some make you look younger and have a side-effect of white hair - one of the main fluff reasons as to why the SoB all have white hair - while others just plug you into a machine that keeps you alive and kicking, like the Ordo Malleus inquisitor in the Daemonhunters codex who was possessed by a Daemon and cut it out of his chest, necessitating that he be given a massive system of mechanical enhancements that kept him alive for something like three hundred years.
On a side note, the aforementioned Inquistor was a total dude. I mean, he's got a Daemon popping out of his body and he cuts it out and then kills it. Awesome.
And do you think that a high ranking IG officer would have access to Juve' drugs?
