I am trying to develope some stories of battles my Grey knights have fought. Here goes.
The chimes rang out through the fortress monestary on Titan signaling 0500 and the beginning of the morning watch. Having heard a similar chime 15 minutes earlier, Grandmaster Terranon stood outside the door to the quarters of the master of the chamber militant of the ordo malleus. Although not wearing his battle armor, Terranon was still a huge man, even for a space marine. He stood well over eight feet and could easily tear a man in half with his hands alone. His electoos on his chest dimly lit his face from below imparting an intimidatind air to all that saw him. He was dressed in the monastic robes he and his brethren wear while at their home. He was answering summons sent by a servo-skull as he was meditating in his spartan quarters.
The doors in front of him opened and he stepping quietly inside, awaiting the master's orders. " Welcome, brother. I am afraid to say that our information tells us of a massive chaotic buildup on Pluto, and your strike force is being sent to deal with the threat. I don't have to tell you that, because it is so close to terra, even more secrecy is required to keep the public from general panic. In addition to your own forces, I am also assigning an inquisitor, and 2 squads of stormtroopers. This, in addition to the firepower your craft can deal should be able to stop this incursion. Go now, and may the emporer be with you ... always."
The pilot of the strike cruiser Virum et Honorum deftly brought the craft to a steady orbit around pluto. "I have hidden us behind pluto's moon, my lord," the voice-box were his mouth should be rasped. "we will be in poisition shortly." "Excellent," said Terranon. "Please have my warriors assemble in the main docking bay."
As he left the bridge or the ship, he could hear the computerized voice of the captain ring throughout the ship. "all soldiers, report to docking bay 1 immediatley." After a short wait, all of those under Terranon's command were in perfect formation awaiting thhe command to embark the waiting Thunderhawks. Terranon spoke, "we shall be dropped into harm's way but fear not, for the emporer is with us. Through his guiding light shall we return victorious. Let hate be your weapon and faith be your shield for we are armored against all foes with the love of the emporer." He then barked the order to get get onto the 2 Thunderhawks.
The trip to the surface of Pluto was swift, the thunderhawks puinching through the thin atmosphere like it was nothing but tissue paper. At once, there was turbulence as the thunderhacks shivered with anti-aircraft shell impacts but the armor on the 'hawks was thinck enough to ward off the blows of the aged guns. The shaken stopped as the flanking Vulture gunships engaged the positions and destroyed them. As soon s the Thunderhawks touched down, Terranon's men were immediately hit with overwhelming fire. The first 3 stormtroopers out the hatch were immediately killed, but more came out as the wing-mounted heavy bolters answered and destroyed the autocannons. As soon as everyone was on the ground the Thunderhawks lifted off, leaving the ground forces to deal with the threat. As the froce moved into the woods on their way to the command structures, the trees erupted in fire. While the ambush at first succeeded in killing 2 more stormtroopers, the rest of the shots bounced off the armor of the Grey Knights. The Grey Knights answered the call with a charge, their Nemesis Force Weapons cutting apart foes with ease. Within minutes, it was over, leaving another stormtrooper and a Grey Knight on the ground. The knight's Justicar moved towads the body, taking off the helmet and saying the traditional words at the passing of a Grey Knight. "You have fought bravely and honorably in the defense of the imperium against the deamonic, rest now, for you take your sustenence with the emporer tonight." The words having been said, the force moved on, the chatter of weapons fire occasionly interrupting the silence of the night. As they reached the encampment, they beheld a great brass-colore gate, red seething inside of it. "There lies our objective," said Terranon over the vox. "we must shut it down or risk the very safety of terra itself." As he finished, he instructed the stormtroopers to provide covering fire on the advance. Then, he signaled his Grey Knights to charge.
They lept out of the woods at the throng gathered at the foot of the portal, hellgun blasts piercing the night air in front or them. The cultists turned just to see the storm bolters of the Grey Knights rip apart their first rank and then the Grey Knights were on them, each squad cutting a wide swath through the crowd in an attempt to reach the generator. Terranon and his squad of terminators reached it first and Terranon reached out his hand and ripped the casing off. Another of the terminotors plunged his weapon into the very heart of it, causing the gateway to flicker. Just as it closed down, that warrior was thrown backwards. He said that something had tried to enter his mind, but he had fought it back. Suddenly, a corpse formerly belonging to a cultist erupted in a great shower of blood and gore, spewing forth screaming choas hounds all clustered around a slowly boiling figure. he burt apart to reveal quivering organs, which melded together to form a huge demon, a bloodthirster. The inquisitor rushed forward, his daemonhammer already beginning its swing. The inquisitor was not match for the demon, however, and was crushed. The Grey Knights began fighting the hounds while Terranon and his Terminators began preparing for the coming battle against the demon. As one, they rushed foward to engage the demon before he finished eaeting the corpse of the inquisitor. The bloodthirster, realizing this, managed to dodge the swords coming at him and suffered only a minor cut across the chest. He howled with rage, allowing Terranon to cast him away. The terminators charged again this time, Terranon wounded him and forced all of his power into the blade of his weapon, causeing a white-blue halo to momentarily surround him and then quickly exit into the body of the bloodthirster. As he was dissintegrating, a claw snapped out and killed 2 terminators and wounding Terranon in the shoulder. The last thing he saw was a Grey Knight plunging his weapon into the chest of a chaos beast, killing it outright.
He awoke in his quarters aboard the Virum et Honorum , a ship's healer seated at his side in prayer. "What about my men," he said. "How many died?" "17 of the origional 25 stormtroopers, all three justicars, 11 or the 27 Grey Knights, 2 of your terminators, a third wont live the nights, and the Inquisitor." "Is the mission finished then?" "Not quite m'lord. You must order the extermination of the population on Pluto to prevent any corruption from spreading." "Very well," Terranon said. "tell them to begin." "As you wish, m'lord."
Terranon then fell into a deep healing sleep accompanied by the soft thuds of the plasma cannons as the ship met Terranon's order's and killed every last man, woman, and child on Pluto."
Sorry this went so long, sort of got carried away there. If you managed to get all the way through, please tell me what you think.
Nope in my opinion it was just the right length. Lets see, your inquisitor had a daemonhammer which means he's pretty high ranking so maybe he should have more of a part to play, flesh out his personality and goals just alittle, not a big deal. Whew the casuality list is monstrous, all three justicars and 11 knights wow, give us more of an idea how many cultists and daemons theyre were, i kept guessing how all these magnificent GK's met their end at the hands of such few chaos scum. Guess thats pretty much it from me, excellent fluff, good work and i hope to see more.
