i just had an awesome idea, here goes: a necroytry tomb ship which overshot its course, and ended up on a planet on the far side of the galaxy, those necrons would have missed the scourging of their race. they could have quietly developed a small empire in some unknown region, further improving upon their advanced technology while the other necrons sat in their tombs for millions of years. they have just developed warp travel, and as they traveled outward, they discover the remnants of the necron race, purged and souless.
i was thinking of making an army to fit this fluff, they would have very advanced technology, more than anybody, but would suffer from weak cancer filled bodies. they could fight all races as they expand their empire, and would get hated enemies against necrons. they would also still hate the spawn off the old ones for their long lives, especially the eldar.
i am looking for peoples coments on the fluff, and on how the army would act. i know the book says the entire necron race was purged, but they could easisly have missed a few spots. also, would they have had psychic powers, before the coming of the ctan, because otherwise it would be hard for them to warp travel.
They wouldn't NEAD warp travle they have genuine FTL.
I think he's saying that they are not Necrons, but Necrontyr - before they sold their souls to the C'tan (they have souls and i assume are alive - with slight divergence from the original Necrontyr due to 65 million years or so of evolution). Because of this, they would not possess the FTL technology of the Necrons and could had developed very different technology.
One slight note - I wouldn't use a " necroytry tomb ship which overshot its course" because i assuming thats a Necron ship. Use a Necrontyr starship instead.
Nice idea though.
Is all good...
Personally, I would suggest that they were a race disconnected from the warp, like the Tau. Otherwise I doubt the C'tan would have been willing to spend a significant length of time with them (i.e. without eating them or killing them.)Originally Posted by tiaxrulesall
I'd do them like the Skakoan in star wars.. (anyone who isn't a total geek, the Skakoan are guys who have to wear big suits to protect them from hostile atmosphere/pressure.. one appears for about 5 seconds in episode 2.) That way, it would also leave a lot of mystery open as to what they actually were.. Having it widely know that they were necrontyr would be liable to bring down the ordo xenos on them like flies.. The ordo xenos are very, very worried by the Necrons.
