Default Time in the 41st Millenium

When does time start from in the year 40,000 it shourly can't be measured from a major religious event, like now because they now worship the emporor. Any Ideas?

I dont think anyones exactly sure on this point. Everything that I've read seems to point to the fact that the calender system predates the Imperium, possibly arising out of the Dark Age of Technology. It was definitely around before the Age of Strife. The Horus Heresy was around M31, and the Emperor (I think) arose around M25. As to its original origin though, I haven't run across a GW sanctioned/supported answer.

I moved your thread, since it was misplaced in the General and Off-Topic Discussion section, which as the name implies is for discussion of non-gaming related issues only. The 40k Army Fluff section is more appropriate. In the future, please make sure your threads are placed in the proper sections of the forum before posting.

As for your question, the Imperial dating system is a continuation of ours and is therefore measured from the birth of Christ. We are now in .M3. For more information, check out this article from Critical Hit.

Heh, thanks. The credit should go to Ze_poodle and not to me, though, since he is the one who came up with the quote in the first place. Not only is he very well versed in the fluff, he’s also a very funny guy. ^_^
