Has anyone heard anything about any new 40k armies gamesworkshop are thinking up next? Does anyone have any ideas about what they think is missing in the 40k world?
I think the 40k world is missing stability, love, and peace.
Unfortunatley, If GW makes a race based on that, they dont have a chance in hell of making money offa it...
I've heard rumours that Tau are getting updated next, if thats what you want to know.
Well, the new Black Templars models being shown of on the GW website indicates to me that BT will come before the Tau update (which means that Orcs and Eldar get ignored for several more months).
As for adding races, the Tau and Necrons are the only races added since the original days of Rogue Trader, although the fluff regarding the universe has changed somewhat. Since Rogue Trader weve seen the death of Squats, Zoats, and the Slann, and then the addition of Necrons and Tau and the diversification of the races. So far I havent heard any rumors of new races, but from what Ive heard GW is currently constructing Codex Exodites, armies based on the clannish Eldar living on maiden worlds all throught the galactic northeast. Its not the Harlequins that so many people have been longing for the return of, but I'm anxiously awating the Exodites and I'll probalby start my own army when they come out.
There is a rumor of a new race, but it looks like it's going to be another "kroot" type race that is allied with Tau.
Now before I get flamed for being misinterpreted, I did NOT say that those new bug looking things ARE kroot, I just compared them to Kroot, since kroot are an allied race.
Who really knows though, cause GW springs new things on us all the time without warning. I mean, who expected a book called Ogre Kingdoms? It's not a bad race at all, but we were all expecting Wood Elves and were quite surprised.
What I'm getting at, is that this new bug race that we saw one little drawing of, could in fact be an entirely new race, but we just don't know enough of the details yet.
What bug drawing? did I miss something?
You Can't Stop the Eighp
Had Tzeentch before I knew how to play :P
Called a'vespid'. They were in some GW Tau Concept art, and they look like large, buggey things. (at least that waht people tell me, I've never been able to find the drawing)
I'm sure WHFB players said the same thing, but they had better not add a new race (or do any new codices past BT and Tau) prior to fixing the Eldar and Orcs. Even BT and Tau is too much, I think. GW could make a killing off new Eldar models, like I'm sure they are with the new Wood Elves (especially if the new Eldar Codex included Harlies and Exodites all under one roof).
You know.... GW could make a killing off of updating Eldar and Orks... BUT (big but) i thin kthat GW should go in a completely new diection with 40k. Well, it's hard to say what I want, but it should be really NEW. Not inspired by early america or the soviet army, or mimicing the classic potrayel of elves *cough*eldar=space elves*cough* as an ancient and powerful nation on the wane. Let's see... sounds like Tolkien to me. I mean, alot of people come to WH40k and immediatly think something between "Starcraft" "Starship Troopers" or "Halo" (AN ARMY OF GUYS JUST LIKE MASTERCHIEF? YEAH!!!) There isnt much originality in Sci-fi as it is. Even though I'm way past what sane people call 'ranting', i seriously believe that there is a great idea lurking in the distance, waiting to be used. (Heck, if all else fails, rethink everyting about Chaos in general and mutate that into a completely new set of armies)
Signatures: Why bother?
Thats interesting from a biology student point of view, seeing as Vespid is a name for a group of social nest building building wasps. I imagine then if it happened were going to see some sort of 'wasp-men' army allying with the Tau...very strange.
Looks like someone found them on the GW website, I found the post giving them a telling off.
