Hi everybody, i have a kill team made up and ready to fight, but have no backround for as of yet. I was thinking along the lines of them being left behind after an invasion so they try and kill as much as possible before getting slaughtered!
Ideas are welcome.
What kind of kill team is it (space marines, imperial guard, tyranids etc.)?
It will make it easier ^_^
Its chaos space marines of the Death Guard cult.
Well, you could start by identifying the key members and a bit about them, being an undead monster in service to nurgle doesn't preclude a bit of individuality, and the fact that a death guardsman has fought for thousands of years should have given him some interesting experiences. Kill teams are small, so don't be afraid to focus on the individuals a bit.
Secondly.. the history of the kill team. This is quite a difficult one. I like your idea of being left behind after a failed invasion, but there are other possibilities, perhaps they've been chosen by grandfather nurgle to carry a particularly horrible infection into the heart of the enemy lines, maybe they've become jaded after years of agonising decay and purposefully volunteer for suicidal missions in the hope that someone might be able to kill them.
Give us a bit more info about the kill team.. what kind of troops have you used, etc, etc.. this might help prompt the ideas.
I was gonna say basically what Mantis has said, planting infection on worlds without a major commitment of forces - planting the seeds of a future attack, or taking worlds that could support the enemy with troops and resources out of the equation. So you could do missions based on their 1) insertion, 2) reconnaisance, 3) eliminating anyone with the potential to uncover or foil their missions (I'm thinking psyker / Magos Biologis), 4) planting the virus, 5) evading pursuit and 6) finally getting off planet.
