im craving some raven guard fluff
i need it
oh plz bring it to me =P
anything to do with raven guard fluff or
corax fluff or anything
maybe even some shrike fluff
First of all, please do not use netspeak. It is clearly stated in the rules, found here, that we prefer members not abuse the English language. Writing a proper request for fluff makes people so much more inclined to spend time writing up a decent answer, rather than simply replying with ‘OMG LOL! R4ven Gu4rd, d00d, buy THE IndEX 4st4ar7eS!’
Secondly, I presume that you have already read the Wikipedia article on the Raven Guard? It has most of the information also found in their Index Astartes article, which seems like the best place to start, fluffwise. Other than that, the Horus Heresy books also contain a few articles on the Raven Guard, but there isn’t actually that much known about them, since they’re supposedly a very secretive Chapter.
"Girls are nice and cuddly on the outside, and freaky on the inside." ~ Lost Nemesis.
For Shrike, he was a gangster early on in his years before he was inducted. On one mission for his gang, he encountered a chaplain of the Raven Guard. When he thought that it was from another gang, he started to fight with te chaplain. The chaplain obviously won, but instead of killing Shrike, he took him to Deliverance and inducted him into the raven Guard. Sorry I can't give you much more than that. I just barely remember the bare bones of the story.
shark in the water
"Your kid puked on me. I should get extra marks for that."
A Ganger who was especially skilled in placing traps, covert-ops and sabotage. He was captured by another gang but escaped, killing three unarmed. He picked off gangers one by one, living off hive-moss and rancid water, but was finally tracked down by the opposing gang. All this time he was being watched by the chaplains of the Raven Guard, who often induct gangers for their stelath skills. They recognised in Shrike a particular potential, and rescued him from the Hive.
Believing them to be some kind of Enforcer, Shrike fought against them (to no avail) and once in their Fortress-Monastery attempted to escape several times, managin g to hide for days in the catacombs of the Fortress at one point. He eventually saw the light of the Emperor, and became a gifted scout.
His ascension to Marine came during a campign against a Chaos Worshipping Mutator. Shrike took command of his squad when the Sergeant was ripped to shreds and destroyed many Fleshforges, gunning down the mutator in a hail of sniper fire.
His first major success as a Marine was on a campaign against a new Orcish Empire. Shrike and his Assualt Squad were trapped on the HQ planet, but survived, killing many hundreds of Orcs and providing much-needed info, bringing the war to an end decades before the predicted time. Shrike is now in command of his own company, known as Shrike's Wing.
Well a major difference between the Raven Guard background and how they appear in the Codex is that the Raven Guard are a fan of surgical strikes. They make extensive use of Drop Pods and Scouts to hit the enemy at their weakest point.
They suffered huge casualties at the Istavan Massacre and resorted to some unknown (but flawed) method to replenish their numbers fast enough. This caused some mutation in some of their battle brothers.
This proved too much for Corax who killed the mutants and said “nevermore before disappearing.
Raven Guard fluff in short- for more detail check the article Grephaun linked.
