I need help on this one.
I have NO IDEA how Melta technology works.
Could one of the all-knowing gods of fluff specify this for me???
or a lot of almost godly :tounge:
I could really use the help, cause I want to keep my story (maybe going to turn it in a book someday) to be as true as can be.
And don't think fluff-story on a chapter.
Think more like Fluff-book on a chapter.
Help would be appreciated.
at least needed
Thanks in forward
Firstly, I've moved this to fluff.
Secondly, if you have the old 3rd Ed rule book theres a bit in there about Melta on page 61.
Theres also a little bit about them on page 35 of the 4th Ed rule book, though the old 3rd Ed one seems to be a little more detailed.
I won't copy the 3rd Ed book word for word, as its copyright, but I'm sure you can borrow one, or pick up a cheap one from ebay or something. (Its got alot of other fluff in it too, despite it being the old rules)
But I'll give the basics.
It basically fires a sub molecular blast over the short distance that it fires, causing molecular breakdown, turning its target into hot steaming...well....stuff, within seconds.
It has a two part injection system to force the gas into the sub molecular state, the result is a powerful blast, which does whats mentioned above.
This two part system however makes it slow to fire, but the results are devastating none the less.
It makes very little noise when fired, bar a high pitched hiss of vaporizing moisture.
It uses a reinforced high pressure pyrum-petrol flask, which has enough for 5 shots.
It's based off of microwave technology I think. You shoot and whatever it hits is in effect "microwaved" but a lot worse than a normal microwave would.
I can read now!
I don't think its based of microwave tech =o.o= but then the only thing I really know about microwaves is how to use them.
But don't microwaves just heat up the molecules thereby speeding them up? I don't think thats how the melta works... but then, meh...I could be wrong lol.
But aye, try then page refs, all the info is actually there...like I said the 3rd Ed book has more on it, and other than just the melta, theres also a fair bit on the other weapons too, which is always an added bonus =^.^=
As for the colour of them, there isn't really a set one, tis up to you, though mine normally are painted black with a orange or silver barrel.
According to Inquisitor the melta weapons use magnetic containment beams to hold in microwave agitation which results in a concentrated blast of such heat that it vaporishes its target. It is better understood than plasma weaponry although plasma is more dangerous by far. The color would probably be something bright and most likely orange or red because its so hot, whereas plasma we know is a blue-white color because its so hot.
I shall destroy all who stand in my way. The Emperor shall be reborn in me, the Primarchs shall be remade in me. I shall cast down the Dark Gods, the Star Gods shall be consumed just as they consumed their brothers. Those who fell shall be redeemed, those who remained pure shall be rewarded. The Imperium shall regain its power and the Dark Age of Technology will seem like nothing. For I am the Numen and I am coming
Form what I've seen, I believe the colour is a orange-red near the barrel, growing bluer as it get further away from it. That's just what I saw on tthe DA Codex cover. But I could be wrong
