I'm trying to make a new SM chapter (this is just a outline if you could just give me some ideas it would be great
Name: Sons of Faith
Fleet: Not Sure yet, suggestions appreciated
Back Ground: Thousands of years ago some colonist to a new world discovered an ancient text. Investigating thaey found it to be a religious tome. Swayed by its teachings they secretly founded their own religion around the teachings of this tome (The Bible). To avoid Suspition from the Inqusition the called thier God the "One God" and claimed he was the Emperor if asked. To help them God blessed the most faithful warriors of his new people and provided them with enhanced bodies very similar to space marines. Keeping them selves distant from the Inqusition they have managed to live among the citizens of the Imperuim doing Gods will.
Army: Very Assualty
Sorry for any mistakes I just got a profile tonight!
I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean by this.Originally Posted by SonsofFaith
It seems like a fairly solid idea for a chapter, although there are some who would disagree with me in the strongest terms on this point. Ordinary humans, however, do not simply become as strong and as fast as Space Marines. I think you should try and stay away from alternate methods for creating them. Also, the whole idea of the Emperor being God seems just a tad bit unoriginal in terms of concept. I will have to reserve judgement on the chapter as a whole until you flesh them out a bit more and give them a combat doctrine, battlecry, etc. For now, I will say keep working on it.
EDIT: Ah, I see now - very assaulty. OK, but you're going to need to be a bit more specific and/or descriptive than that.
God exists, well it's a pretty interesting idea. One thing it's lacking is a reason. A why. why would god decide to give these people superhuman speed and strength just because they found the bible? write in a reason for that and it will become much more plausible.
Another thing is that the inquisition would be on them like a fly on a kipper if they began worshipping this "one god" and then right afterwards began showing signs of amazing strength and such. I think this might cause them to think of chaos just a tiny little bit.
Now this doesn't really fit with your concept but here's what I'd do, feel free to ignore this part. The text or artifact that they find is actually necron in origin, it contains instructions for body augmentation using technology also found at the site. I doubt the inquisition would bat an eye at that because cyber-augmentation is commonplace. At least until they realised that their power rivaled that of the space marines. Of course one of the c'tan gods is behind it and is manipulating them by their belief in this conveniently unnamed god so that he'll have people already converted to this belief before his awkening.
"You challenge me knowing that I am Xiahou Dun!?"
Congradulations you now have an extremly god base for an extremly good history/background i think that if you are trying to go with this idea you would find that the chaos codex is more your style. Think blessing from thier god, chaos gods hmm but i like the whole agree with the inquisition thought. Very interesting but you need to rework some parts of it such as adding a little more and give us some traits and exactly how you plan to represent this in your army

I like the above idea but I don't see it working with his/your orginal plan. What about a group of unindoctornated Marines crash o na sucky world, but believe in the Emperor. However, without proper inquistion control they find the bible and believe that the god talked about in there is the one in their life, so they are found again, and just say him, or god. And are welcomed back in the ranks of Marines.
Three Companies of the 26th Vinancium
143rd Airborne Badgers (99.9% done)
159th Corsair Rifles (35% done))
69th Armored Wall Busters (95% done)
Total 197 men, 12 tanks, 4 Heavy Artillery Pieces
That is probably the way I'd go with it, if I were you.Originally Posted by Xiahou Dun

PM me for fluff help!
I can't understand why people try to bring actual religions into a G-A-M-E, that has absolutely no basis in reality?
I'd go with the Necron/C'Tan storyline

Um, there are quite a few unfluffy things in this particular story. For a list of some of the "fluff fouls", check out this post (ENOUGH of the Female Space Marines (and other unfluffy fluff)!) or maybe this post (Here we go again...more unfluffy fluff).Originally Posted by SonsofFaith
More specifically, here are the problems I see.
1) Space marines without upgrades - Marines need the upgrades (especially the black carapace) to interact with their power armor. While I respect your religious views, it doesn't work in this fictional world of 40K.
2) Space Marines don't believe in the Divine Emperor - While it is well- established that many chapters revere their primarch as equal to the Emperor, the Inquisition would drop the GK on your @$$ if you didn't believe in the Emperor, or (worse to them) believed in another deity. I can here the virus- bombs being dropped as we speak.
3) NO geneseed - As said above, no geneseed = no Space Marine.
4) Chapters doing someone's will other than the Emperor - They may be doing "God's Will" but the SM are deployed by the Administratum to various worlds, and while they may initiate their own campaigns to some extent, there is always some responsibility to the Imperium as a whole. They can't just go off and " do God's will" on their own whim.
I appreciate that you are thinking creatively and really trying, but to truly be " fluffy", the best choice is to either change your fluff or become a rogue chapter.
Just because you asked.
Marion: You're not the man I knew ten years ago.
Indiana: It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage.
For the last time, there are
NO FEMALE SPACE MARINES!!!!!
First thanks for all the comments.
How about this:
The Sons of Faith chapter began as a part of one of the Legions that turned to chaos. During some part of the Great Betrayal a small group of marines where able to split off from their legion and have existed by traveling around in their fleet (this makes them more moblie and harder to purge).
I would like to keep the whole God idea, if i will work.
ill drop the "God turning them into marines" part and just stick with the original sm's
but i think i have God blessing the best warriors into "super marines" (is there a chaos equivalent?) model wise ill put wings on them and say they are veterans with jump packs
and God dicides to help these marines because they are his only worshipers now and he wants to have them survive.
Ill more than likely give them "Take the Fight to Them" and "No Mercy, No Respite"
Finally I want to intagrate Chritainity into the game because it makes more interesting and funner for me.
Again thanks for all the comments. Keep em coming.
