This might be a stupid question but just how long did the Horus Heresy last? Assuming the start as the virus bombing of Istvaan III (I think) and the end as the siege of Terra.
Revenge is a dish best served with mayonnaise and those little cheesy things on sticks.

It’s known that the Horus Heresy began in the early .M31, and that it ended with the Siege of the Imperial Palace in 014.M31. Online timelines set the start of the Heresy at either 007.M31 or 012.M31, but I have been unable to confirm either claim since references to official fluff are either invalid or nonexistent. Critical Hit has no specific year set as the start of the Heresy, and I’m afraid I don’t either. However, I think it’s safe to assume it lasted a few years at least.Originally Posted by I am the Monkey King
If anyone’s got a valid fluff reference stating the actual year the Heresy began, please let me know. Until then, the above is the best I can do. :hmm:

Fourteen years from Istvaan to Terra seems like a good number. Horus pretty much blazed his way through the galaxy, and fourteen years is good time by comparison. I know the siege of Terra lasted at least three months, and most likely the battle in the Sol system lasted well over a year.
Of course, the real war was in the pacification of the rebelling star systems, which has to date not officially finished. So, fourteen years (roughly) of invasion resulted in ten thousand years of reclamation. Not bad, considering.
Yeah. What they said.
