    The Frozen Angels

Here is the background of my chapter i have also posted some images.

    The Icemen Commeth.

Inqusitorial report on the purity of the frozen angels chapter

    Inquisitor kandrofski

    segmentum obscuris

    Founder Sasqua ‘ch’
(created from ultra marine gene seed stored for futre foundings and recently activated due to a recent threat of unknown origin the Frozen Angels had to be mobilized quickly to counter the incursion he is preserved in a cryo solution to negate any courupting influence.)

    Chapter master Cryogen
(appointed by Sasqua 'ch' to direct the ground forces he remains aloof and cold to plea's of mercy.)

    Chief librarian Subzero
(has used his psionic powers to control the forces of temperature to his advantage able to slow opponents with a glance and move with the speed of a zeppher.)

    Apothecary Chilblane
(adept at cureing cold related inguries caused by their use of freon weapons(as plasma only cold) and cryo technologies.)

    Master of sanctity Frozone
(leader of ground assault units he commands from the front inspireing others with his removed personality that shows no mercy.)

    Tactics
The frozen angels specialise in frozen enviroments supported by speeders the targets are identified by the company’s scouts who then call in the reserves and thunder hawks once the objective has been met the surviving marines are evacuated via land raiders supported by twin lascannon and heavy bolter fitted predators.

    Recruitment
The frozen angels chapter of space marines are known as the ice giants by the local nomadic tribes. New initiates are taken from the hardiest of the local tribes men who all manage to survive in the -12 conditions on the planet

    Victor Fries
The home world is a frozen desert full of untapped natural resources littered with numerous research facilities and mining plants including several sources of STC.
Using these the techmarines assigned to the frozen angels have pioneered advanced cryogenic techniques that enable deep space exploration of the vast segmentum obscuris while providing greater protection from extended warp jumps. They also have their gene seed cryogenically frozen to prevent the genetic material becoming corrupted. This combined with their accelerated Haemastamen implant makes the frozen angels almost immune the effects of cold.

    Implants
Due to their extended periods of cryostasis there have been several abnormalities noted in the frozen angels gene seed.
The Haemastamen (phase 4)implant in a Frozen Angel is accelerated in order to process the ice crystals that form in the blood during the cryogenic process used to store the marine on extended deep space crusades. The Melanochrome, or Melanochromic Organ. (phase 13) implant is damaged, this gives the frozen angels their pale blue skin colouring. An over active Sus-an Membrane(phase 12) implant has resulted in a temperament entirely void of emotion.

    Traits, advantages and their drawbacks

The frozen angels are both fierce and stern, totally unflinching in their devotion to the emperor of mankind.
There is a significant divergence to the codex that bears further note

Blessed be the warriors (fierce) Cleanse and purify(stern)

Here are the corupted phases of creation investigated for the frozen angels.

Phase 4 – Haemastamen (accelerated on implant)
Phase 12 – Sus-an Membrane (over active due to extended usage)
Phase 13 – Melanochrome, or Melanochromic Organ. (dammaged)

I think that frost angels or wraiths of storm may be better names. do you have an icy color scheme I can help you with names for them. Frozen angels sounds kinda like ice marines.......who are stuck....in ice

Time for a little fluff bashing, cause I can't find a nicer word for it...9)

    Founder Sasqua ‘ch’
(created from ultra marine gene seed stored for futre foundings and recently activated due to a recent threat of unknown origin the Frozen Angels had to be mobilized quickly to counter the incursion he is preserved in a cryo solution to negate any courupting influence.)

    Chapter master Cryogen
(appointed by Sasqua 'ch' to direct the ground forces he remains aloof and cold to plea's of mercy.)
Right off the bat that anyone looking at this will note is: why was this chapter created? What founding were they created in?
So lets see, the founding chapter master is still alive, which unless the chapter is under 1000 years old or Sasqua ‘ch’ has been placed in a dreadnought this really is impossible.

    Apothecary Chilblane
(adept at cureing cold related inguries caused by their use of freon weapons(as plasma only cold) and cryo technologies.)
So does this mean the chief apothecary only works with cold based problems and is not capable of dealing with anything else?

    Tactics
The frozen angels specialise in frozen enviroments supported by speeders the targets are identified by the company’s scouts who then call in the reserves and thunder hawks once the objective has been met the surviving marines are evacuated via land raiders supported by twin lascannon and heavy bolter fitted predators.
So whats your force organisation look like, scout heavy? Also, 'surviving marines' well your space marines so everyone should survive or else suffer light casualties or wounds. Surviving marines implies that there are more than a few casualties.

The home world is a frozen desert full of untapped natural resources littered with numerous research facilities and mining plants including several sources of STC.
    NO

    Recruitment

This is normal recruitment methids for all chapters with the exception that the people being tyaken have to show a slightly mutated or superhuman quality.

    Traits, advantages and their drawbacks
    so where are those disadvantages?

Well only the illiterate would miss the fact that your trying to make an army based around cold, and while librarian Augustine can help you choose a new name (unnnecesary if you ask me) I'd be more than happy to help you work out your fluff.

I like the idea, about deep-space Marines. I haven't heard anything in regards to cryogenic stasis in Imperial fluff, so it's open-hole on that one. Perhaps your presentation could do with work, as well as your naming (Chapter Founder Sasqua'ch'?) but it's a solid concept, and you've given them a bit of personality - or lack thereof.

I like it. It needs work, but I like it.

Well, it was said that the Chapter Founder has been placed in cryogenic stasis (at least that’s how I read that particular paragraph) so I suppose he might still be around in a way, yet more as an icon than an actual leader, similar to Roboute Guilliman who technically isn’t dead either (although nor truly alive.)

Apart from what Darkreever has already mentioned, the only thing that immediately strikes me as off about your Chapter is the choice of names for your characters. I’m thinking, okay, Chapter Master is called Cryogen which is Latin for ‘made from cold’, seems fitting enough, but the other names honestly made me smile. They sound like super heroes (especially Frozone, whom I’m sure made an appearance in the Disney movie ’The Incredibles’? :lol And having a Founder named after Big Foot is, well, somewhat disrespectful not to mention amusing.

So I took the liberty of looking up some other suitable names you might like to consider, their meaning and linguistic origin:

    Izotz: Ice, Basque.
    Edur: Snow, Basque.
    Yuki: Snow, Japanese.
Nevada: Snow (-capped) (as in the state), Spanish.
    Frigidian/Frigidus: Cold, Latin.

Also, cryo-, psychro-, and frigidi- are all prefixes meaning ‘cold’ in Latin or Greek; while leuko-, albo-, and argenti- all mean ‘white’, in case you want to play around with them to create new names.

Other than that, I too find the concept interesting. Don’t let our constructive criticism keep you from developing this idea, I think this would make a fascinating army when the rough edges of your fluff have been smoothed a little.

Yes that CM was in stasis, but I believe that unless I read wrong rawhead has it said that the founding master was reawakened and currently active, plus the whole bit on the current chapter master having been given orders from the founding master didn't help say that the founder wasn't anything more than alive and active.

Though I should make it clear that I am in a greement with Ze and Grephaun in that this chapter would be an awesome sight and evil enemy. The fluff just needs some smotthing like Grephaun said.

I'm afraid I gotta agree with Greph.. Some of the names are too funny. They should be stern and intimidating.

Also, though you're hardly alone in this, some of the cold related imagery is a bit.. um.. campy. Cold shooting guns? Blue skin? We're getting a bit 'batman' here.

I'd keep it a little more subtle myself..

I really enjoy your ideas for this army, and would enjoy v.s it. But I'm going with everyone else with the whole details part. 1. I despise the librarian the most so far, because he neither draws his powers from the warp, but he also doesn't show any signs of faith in the Emperor (He would be my first kill against you). Tweakage of that could be considered, or you could do this second idea. 2. You need drawbacks. And drawbacks shouldnt be seen as bad, but as a way to create the most unique army. my suggestion is that you take a major AND minor drawback. Major: Aspire to Glory(Either its a new chapter, or the cold is eating up those machines), or Flesh Over Steel (You shouldn't need worry about survivors. And the people, not machines, are cold resistant proof. Minor: Have Faith in Suspicion (Your librarian is under suspicion from my army), or We Stand Alone (Your allies would freeze in those conditions).

I like your army, and in the end you have the final decision

Adding to that I might mention that a malfunctioning Melanochromic Organ wouldn’t in itself cause symptoms of albinism, since the Marines also have ordinary pigmentation producing cells in their skin. I realise that the Index Astartes articles about the special Space Marine implants mentions the Death Spectres, a Chapter supposedly consisting of albinos because of a mutation of their Melanochrome, but in real life that isn’t possible (I really wish Games Workshop had consulted a medical professional before writing that article. :rolleyes

Unless, and forgive me for my medical ramblings here, the Chapter has at the same time either been afflicted with a very aggressive form of anti-pigmentational disorder or else all were born albinos and chosen for this trait. I think the former is most likely, though, since such illnesses do actually exist and are caused by genetic mutations (which Space Marines are subject to when initiated), whereas albinism is a very rare inborn medical condition.

Albinos don’t have blue skin, though, unless they’re freezing. Normally their skin is pink, their hair entirely white, and their eyes are usually a very deep blue colour. Sometimes their retinas are also affected by the albinism (ocular albinism) which might cause blindness or at least a certain sensitivity towards bright light. Perhaps this might somehow be used to explain some of the disadvantages Darkreever is asking for?

    ~Grephaun.

PS. And I know someone's going to say, well, it's just a game, why pay so much attention to what is actually possible? But hey, that's just my way. Sorry for boring you all to death. :hmm:
