I have begun a chapter for Space marines called the Emperor's Skulls and have thought of a colour scheme and some fluff so here it goes-
The Emperor's Skulls are a young chapter but have already made a name for themselves in the Imperium by wiping out an entire Ork invasion on their home planet with minimal casualties. The first company have joined the wars on Armageddon and lost only three battle brothers due to their teamwork and co-operation. The chapter master, Llywelyn, has also led the company on a mission into a Chaos Ship to recover a battle brother. Although they are powerful, their recklessness is frowned upon by the older chapters like the Ultramarines and the Black Templars as is their tradition of collecting the skulls of their enemy after any battle.
All critisizm is xepted
I don't think Black Templar would frown on anybody being reckless, as long as they are smitting people in the name of the emperor. Also I think you should add a few more casualties to their story
Anyway i think you have to much black with your Dark Red.
I HATE that marine painting thing! >.<
But aside from that sounds good, but yea I cant imagine BT's being upset at you for being reckless, holding onto the skulls of things they find so incredibly vile to begin with, that I can see them getting upset about.
Just a question and a comment/question:
What traits do you plan for them and how will the army be oriented? (Combat, ranged..?)
And is it me, or do the "Emperor's skulls" kinda sound blasphemous? I mean it makes more sense now that i've read his fluff, but I dont know, sounds somehow wrong to me.
He's coming for you...
Trophy-taking is a time-honored tradition and would not only be condoned by the dedicated warrior-monks of the Imperium but widely practiced. You might as well ask a redneck to give up his deer heads as expect any enthusiastic Xeno-stompers to not count coup!
I agree with squeaks, there's too much black. Maybe paint the helmet with Bleached Bone? Leaving the eyes black?

I also agree that there is too much black. I like the idea of making the head bleached bone. For the fluff, I would say that even though it was the first and therefore the veteran company that participated int he Armageddon war, that only three casualties is too little. I was thinking along the lines of 5 at least. More like ten. That was a seriously touh war.

Remember, give people rep if they help you.
So are your traits xenos orks? something else, and aspire to glory?
What do you mean by ork invasion? A chapter fighting on its home planet against orks could have perhaps only lost 3 marines, but as orks invasions go, this sounds extreamily unlikely. Consider fluff of more heroic actions, like, much of the chapter was away, only a few members of the first company and 8th company remaned on the home planet. when a suprise orc invasion totally overwhelmed them. The fortress monestary was under almost none stop bumbardment, and it became aprent that, the charactor you mentioned, must lead his marines on a counter attack, to kill the warboss, yadda yadda yadda, he does, which breaks the orcs invasion, and not a single orc got off the planet alive.
I think that three casualties during the Armageddon War is, while a stretch, entirely plausible; if it was indeed the veteran company and if they were working alongside other Chapters and the Imperial Guard. Not to mention that most of the actual casualities would have been wounded rather than dead.
I like the white helmet idea. Replace some of the red with black, the helmets bleached bone, and then add more bleached bone here and there. Your current scheme looks too Blood Angel-y.
If they're a YOUNG chapter, that must mean they don't have too much marines at their disposal, so 3 casualities against an ENTIRE Ork invasion? A bit far-fetched.
I just got the new codex today and i'm trying to pick traits.
Good point,i think theat reckless is a bit over the top so scratch that.
I'm still sticking with the three casualties cous they co-operate.
In the early years of the chapter the Warclan of Lurgutz the Squll Squisher. Their Chapter Master was slain and the Chapter was near annihalation until a new heroe arose;Llywelyn led the attack on the Ork base campand slayed every one.
