Default some Luna Wolves fluff

Hey I was just thinking about the Luna Wolves when I thought about something. my idea is that there is a LunaWolves chapter which is located mainly on Terra who serve a group of people who are so secrative that they basically dont exist and who supposedly recieve orders straight from the Emperor via Psykers and who use the LunaWolves(post Heresy) to fulfill their odd objectives which are an extremely complex plot to get the Emperor off the golden throne and back into the fray. so what do you think?

Sehr interresant, ne? (Very interesting, no?)
If you're thinking Luna Wolves as in the Legion Horus commanded, I don't know. I suppose they could have remained loyal if they were seperated from Horus, but he was united with his legion earliest, and had very strong bonds. So I don't know. I don't want to discourage (I make up a lot of crazy stuff myself...), but...

I do like the idea though. My Angels Malleus were much the same way: no one knows they exist, etc. Except some people found out, and the Angels got banished.
But the psyker thing I didn't think of... that's good!

The Luna Wolves always believed they were the best, in everything. They were the greatest legion and they were the most tactically flexible (except for the Alpha legion), but they were the greatest strategically.

The whole thing screams inquisitorial purge, but it seems very likely at the same time. Purge because thre geneseed of the traitor legions was purged but everything else is perfectly logical. Look at the grey knights, they remain a super-secret chapter who serve a secret group. The bit of them talking to the emperor seems farfetched but its perfectly logical. He isn't talkiing, but he still can, he prefers to dream...

I usually shy away from creating loyalist versions of post-Heresy Chaos Legions because of the major complications involved. However, if you want to go ahead with it, you'd have to be prepared to explain several questions. First, how did they avoid being purged by the Inquisition in the aftermath of the Heresy? Second, where do they get their Geneseed and supplies from, since all traces of Horus (including the clone) were eliminated by Abaddon after he arrived at the Eye of Terror. Third, you need to go for the usual stuff like Combat Doctrine, Beliefs, Organization, Homeworld, etc. All that fun stuff.

Good luck with that.

I agree with Night Rabbit. There are WAAAAAY too many loopholes in that story. The most troublesome being the inquisitorial purge that would surely come. 7-foot tall superhumans wearing power armor have a tendency to STICK OUT. They don't blend in too well amongst the crowd to "disappear". That also being said, a bunch of rhinos, dreadnaughts, and predators would be tough to hide. Furthermore, where would they go to fight without being spotted, and how would they then get back to their base on Terra?

Mission Control: Inbound vessel 3447, in the name of the glorious Emperor of mankind, state your name and purpose

Luna Wolves Captain: We're, uh, a bunch of traders coming to trade....stuff.

Mission Control: Repeat. What is your cargo and destination?

LWC: Um...we're taking a shipment to Earth.

MC: Repeat please?

LWC: Well, see...we're taking some <coughing>adsgawdg to the <coughing> adad.

MC: Please repeat your manifest?

LWC: Uh... PUPPIES! We're bringing puppies to the scurvies.

MC: Is that a tank behind you?

LWC: Where? Oh that? That's our, um... espresso machine.

MC: With a lascannon turret?

LWC: I like my coffee strong.

MC: Roger. Stand by for atomic bombardment by the frigates Infuriating Anger, Glorious Bludgeoning and Vigorous Disembowlment. The Emperor be praised.

A few things id like to point out. to answer some questions 1. they would get their gene-seed from a Vault where some DNA samples from Horus were taken shortly after the Horus Heresy located deep in the ground of a planet which is not named and does not appear on any map for security perposes and their homeworld is the sam planet i should have been more clear, The base of operations for the "guild" that they follow is on Earth not the LunaWolves base and the reason for the purge not happening is as follows

1) some high members of the Inquisition are ivolved 2) The only people who know this even exists is the members of the guild and their servants/troops nad they never leave the base and 3) the inquisition CAN be overruled by certain Powerful politicians for 1 example if not for both neccesity and being overruled the Inquisition would have long ago purged the navigators.

Actually, save the emperor there is no authority that can override the inquisition. They have dedicated themselves to follow the emperors wishes and he made it clear that the high lords were to be listened to (to an extent) and that the navigators were good. Hence why they don't touch them...

It's just not going to happen. I'll go through this with you:

1. Loyalist Luna Wolves
They were loyal to their Primarch, not much else. Abaddon was thought to be the most loyal to the Imperium's cause, barring Horus. Look at how they both turned out. Add to that the fact that the Traitor Legions' geneseed are either destroyed or sealed permanently in a vault somewhere (can't remember which). They probably wouldn't be trusted again.

And that they would be loyalist Sons of Horus, thanks the legion's renaming before the Heresy. A name like that doesn't inspire confidence in the modern Imperium, does it?

2. The secret group
This smells far too much of Illuminati, which just doesn't fit with the current atmosphere of the 40k fluff. They seem too overridingly powerful, particularly if they have marines at their beck and call, to not be mentioned in the official fluff.

3. Receiving orders straight from the Emperor
If there were psykers that could do that, the Imperium would use them. That and I'm inclined to go with the portrayal of the Emperor in Inquisitor (about the only good thing about the book), that you've got a personality split into about a dozen different pieces.

4. Horus' geneseed
Horus was as corrupted by Chaos as a mortal possibly can be. The geneseed of the Traitor Legions is unstable because of their corruption. They wouldn't result in the most stable of marine chapters.

5. "High" members of the Inquisition
There are no such things. Everyone is under the eye of the Inquisition, including Inquisitors. Each Inquisitor has the right to order Exterminatus, to declare someone Extremis Diabolus etc, and so having "famous" inquistiors wouldn't help keep the voices of those who disagreed quiet.

6. Secret world and recruitment
On such a secret world there would be no one to draw new marines from, as of necessity the locals would be kept in the dark about the chapter's existence, and so they wouldn't be able to recruit from them, thus meaning the chapter would die out in the first generation.

To sum up:
NO

Ya know Xerxes, there are famous inquisitors out their. There are also inquisitor lords and the ordo malleus as well. Since not only is it the job of them to take on daemons but to watch the other ordos. Think about it, this means they can silence the voices of other inquisitors.

Other than that your right about his idea, though some of it is fairly viable. (The whole being able to communicate with the emperor, though not using the best medium in the world, is still a good idea...)
