I was just wondering is it plausible for there to be an experimental division of the Adeptus Mechanicus? Involved with xeno technology.
More specifically Tau Battlesuit technology/ and or integration of Dreadnought technology.
Is it plausible/ developing a new more mobile form of battlesuit, commandeered by specialist units of marines.?
Plausible at all?
It probably goes on in very hidden places but its not really plausable. As the Adeptus Mechanicus view all other technology other than humans to be herectical they only study it to find how to destroy it.
Your idea is original but fundamentally flawed.
I dont wanna go the way of "Rebel Adeptus mechanicus" because they would be utterly annihilated at all costs. I just want to come up with a way of combining the technologies.
What do you recon?
There is no real way you coulddo it.
The best I can come up with is a group of tech priests left with the human auxillaries (in tau space) after the crusade decided to try and improve their technology (lasguns etc) with tau technology so they have superior weapons.
As the Imperium already thinks they are traitors they have nothing to lose and everyhting to gain.
Not until the xenos hunters codex comes out. Then you could have radical inquisitors who use the alien techonology.

Ok...Do you think it would be good?
I could just have a SM army but model it with Tau tech.
Yeh, why not man. Ultimatly you can do whatever you wish, but if your going to play them then make sure you come up with somethign fairly reasonable. However, in the end, there would be no physical way that Space Marines would utilise alien technology, but by all means go for it dude.
I think it's possible, whether it's plausable is another matter..
1) The adeptus mechanicus, and by extention the Imperium considers all technology of alien origin to be spiritually tainted. Therefore, using or working with it is highly dangerous to the very soul of the user.
2) Marines are fantatics. They hate Xenos. They hate anything to do with Xenos. Unless there is an immediate and just cause to be served by using xeno tech, beyond their own survival and increased combat effectiveness, they are unlikely to agree to do it.
Even radical ordo xenos inquisitors learn their technical skills wrapped up in the mechanicus doctrine. Therefore, they know they put their souls in danger when they use xenos tech, they merely consider it a reasonable risk considering the desperation of the time. They don't use any more than abseloutely neccesary, either. So trying to improve existing designs using alien tech is probably still a little off.
As Denrik said though, it's your fluff, do what you want. But, while it's quite possible, I disagree with it being plausable.
I was stretching it a bit...
Why cant the marines be just a bit floozy...
They were caught in a warpstorm.
They are traitors.
Their geenseed is traitourous.
They are led by the lost primarch.
