There are many different tongues in the 40K universe i was wondering if anyone had an etensive list of words and phrases even alphabets or symbols with their meanings.
There are millions. Each imperial planet has its own languages as well as imperial gothic (the standard language of the imperium).
You then have Tau, orkish, the eldar language and a whole host of minor species that have their own languages.
Imperial gothic is represented with Latin, so if you wanted to be accurate thats the language of the Imperium.
yeah i usually go with Latin when i'm working with space marines or the Gaurd. I'm wondering more across the lines of the Eldar, necrons (i know they don't talk but they have runes on the monolith's right), tau (maybe stuff that isn't in the codex stuff that is in Black Library books or something). Stuff like that.
In that case you are going to have a hard time getting anything decent. There is just so little done.
For the necron runes, they have a very Egyptian feel so you could use them for inspiration.
I don't know what the eldar language looks like so I cannot help there.
As far as Tauish go there probably is stuff from the Black Library. The best I can think of is the book of xenology, maybe that has something in (its also supposed to be a good book as well)?
Xenology is a very good book, but has little on the subject of languages (if I remember correctly).
I know that there is an eldar dictionary *here*, and a tau one *here*. I'm not sure about orks, but I'm pretty sure that GW has done thier alphabet in one of thier codicies (can't remember if it was 2nd ed. or the new(er) one though).
I wouldn't really say that the necron's markings are particulaly similar to those of ancient egypt, but they aren't really reminicent of anyhting else I can think of either.
I hope that was of some use to you, although a simple google search would probably have revealed the same info...

The Tau codex has a page or two on the language.

The ork language is pictoral, with glyphs for the most common words, and a rough alphabet, too. It's in the back of the 2nd edition codex, so if you can find one you'll have it. Although if you want some text:
Git: Troublemaker, nuisance
Grod: Friend/favoured enemy
Snik: cut, trench, wound
Zog: Go away, no good, get lost
Grim: powerful, dangerous
That's all I can think of right now, will get back to you if I can remember any more (my codex and me are currently separated by a few hundred miles).
2nd edtition ork codex also has ork glyphs in it don't know if they have different words. For choas old old book Realm of choas has dark tonuge init for choatic speech, (beastmen etc that inhabit deamon worlds).
