im writing a story for my enlish project and i decided to do it on 40k. i was curious as to if there are any like Delta Force like Guardsmen like better than stormtroopers. If so could anyone like give some feedback on me. Ill post the story when im done.
None that are really better than stormtroopers, if a situation occured where the Imperium needed even better troops they would call in either an assassin or the space marines. On the other hand you could create a particular squad that was extremely skilled after countless campaigns.
On a side note I would be careful about using WH40K as a backdrop for a School assignment as unless it is very well done I don't think the teacher will get it.
wat i was going to do was use the intro in all the BL books. but yea i guess ill create one i was thinking of making one. but thanks for the feedback man.
Stormtroopers = Delta Force
The fact is, a human can realistically only be so good. Special forces aren't exactly the way they're portrayed in the movies. Stick them in a head on combat situation, and they won't do that much better than regular infantry.
Unfortunately, the mechanics of the 40k game don't exactly simulate the conditions special forces work best under. That's more a job for kill team, and games like that. 40k stormtroopers represent the elite spec ops units being deployed alongside regular troops in pitched battles, as Delta force was deployed in coordination with other units in places like Somalia. And no, they didn't fare that much better than anyone else in Somalia.
If anything, Stormtroopers would be better than modern Delta force, they start training as infants.
i mean a unit that is like in the same Elite Ranking as Delta is today.. but yea i get your point
There are certain specialist troops that are the uber1337 and all that goodness, mostly just hyperspecialized stuff. The only examples that come to mind are Armegeddon Ork Hunters and in Codex: Catachans there's some story about a Catachan regiment that was scrambled to the defence of a jungley world, and they eventually wound up becoming fantastically elite tyranid killing machines, they even wore the carapaces of dead nids and rolled around in their fluids so they could move amongst them without arousing suspicion. There's a few instances like that.
Also, I'd advise against writing a 40k story for anything other then your own entertainment, you're putting the additional burden on yourself that you have to explain the whole of the 40k universe in this story, because your teacher isn't going to know who the Emperor is, and will probably think a Space Marine is R. Lee Ermy riding a NASA shuttle.
And as an unrelated aside, writing a story about a best-of-the-best-of-the-best type group is usually tough because they tend to be written as "perfect" with no obvious flaws, which makes for an insanely boring story, and there's also no sense of triumph when the survive the battle. (I've had problems writing about that stuff in the past, I noticed that my "ubercool commandos" were about as entertaining as a pile of mashed potatoes, and not nearly as delicious)

One way to make the story work is to depict the Stormtroopers as ultra elite and then pitch them against Night Lords........
The trouble is, I don't think they could win.Originally Posted by Berny Mac
Elite stormtroopers are trained from birth for combat. Nightlords have survived 10,000 years of combat.
Elite stormtroopers can fight in hand to hand as well as any other human. Night lords can crush a man's skull with their bare hands.
Elite stormtroopers wear armour which can deflect explosive bullets. Night lords wear armour which can deflect anti-tank cannon shells.
Elite stormtroopers carry improved lasguns. Night lords carry rapid fire rocket propelled grenade launchers.
Don't pit them against marines, maybe.. If anything, pit them against other humans. A battlefield filled with super powerful alien horrors is not the best place for elite human troops.. Against humans, stormtroopers live up to their role as the best of the best.
thanks again for the feedback ill post the introduction when im finished with it.
