ive got an idea for my SM chapter but i need some help.Im not the best writer so I thought id see if anyone could help.
Chapther name(some lords or swords)
colors:Lich purple & yellow(yellow up to the knees, hands ,strip in the helm & rim of shoulder pads)
Chapter symbol(waiting for a name)
Moto: Pain is an illusion We are eternal
Ok heres a few ideas i have
my chaper is in a galaxy with 2 forgeworld from where they get alot of their gear mostly pred tanks & bikesand one death type would where the chapter is based((because i have a few animal type mods on my troops)there is a heavy IG presents one one of the forgeworlds from where the chapter get most of its new members.((I would like to use Cadian Shock Troops as scouts)I would also like them to have place high regruard on their techmarines. The chapter also have a very few Librarians(not sure why yet.. but I want it to have something to do with there heavy reliance on tech)
Well thats a few of my ideas any & all help is welcomed.
Ok let's see what we can do. First of all I believe the theme is the most important thing when making a new chapter. We can worry about the name and stuff after we figure the theme out.
Firstly, everyone in 40k is in the same galaxy, but the close ties to the forgeworlds and IG can stay. In fact I believe it should be the focus of this army. If the names is lords something, or something lords than I believe this could be good theme. A space marine chapter that has much closer ties to the regular forces of the imperium than most chapters, which are usually quite aloof and autonomous. So my idea is that your chapter, instead of trying to keep to itself promotes coopoeration with the adeptus mechanicus and IG.
So, this strikes me as a shooty army. Vehicles and techmarines from the adeptus mechanicus, stormtroopers from the imperial guard as scouts. Bikes and land speeders would be cool as well. I'm not sure how librarians would fit into this idea though, they have very little to do with technology.
Now, for the name... Just a few suggestions.
Swords of the emperor
Those are just a few ideas, just trying to get a name that gets across both the tech side and the governing side of the chapter. The colours are good, just like the scythes of the emperor if I remember correctly, and they're very cool. Symbol.... a sword, a shield, a crown, a castle. Any of those would do well, especially if it's surrounded with the cog pattern to show-off their allegiance to the adeptus mechanicus. Oh and you'll have to think about chapter traits as well. Perhaps honour your wargear? or heed the wisdom of the ancients....
That's about all I can think of, I hope at least some of it was helpful.
"You challenge me knowing that I am Xiahou Dun!?"
yes thank you thats very helpful.. Im starting to get a better idea of how i want them to be...
Im thinking maybe replaceing the Librarians with an ironfather type guy.. I dont want to replace the chaplins but i like them to much lol.. but maybe i could make the Librarians more tech based..
I reckon you should just use a chaplain to represent the ironfather. He can lead your army. Then just have your techmarine stay back with your vehicles repairing them. Probably with a servo-harness and a couple of tech servitors.

I guess ill have to look up the rules on the iron father to see if he'd fit better in the army.. but i dont want it to seem like an Iron hands rip off, because i just dont have the bitz or money to make them look all techie..
oh oh oh.. thats a good idea.. they could be from the iron hands geneseed but dont belive in the weekness of the flesh thing like them.. but they hate the weekness of the mind & see Librarians as kind of an mutie.
This is a bit problematic, because space marines are generally recruited at about age 12 or 13. Unless your guard regiment has an Infant Brigade, I don't think your average guardsmen is going to have distinguished himself at age 13.Originally Posted by BrokenWingZ
Also, Cadian shock troops have lasguns and flak armour, which SM scouts don't have. Unless you do a bit of fiddling, it's going to be a difficult proxy.
ok how about all new member to the chapter have to serve 2 years in the IG...or maybe they start recruiting at a later age like 16 or 17
I'd lean more towards the second one than the first, but bear in mind that the reason Chapters recruit at a young age is so that the zygotes and implants and what-have-you develop alongside the recruit's body. At age 16-17 a lot of development has already been done, although you could compensate for this by making their recruitment process survival rate low, or simply say that their years in the Guard toughen them up enough physiologically to withstand the process .
Ok so all new member server 2 years in the IG but because the chapther has to take the m so late in life only about 35% to 45% surive.. meaning it takes longer to recoup for loses so in turn they reley more on shooting & thier tanks... see its all tieing together!!!
I wouldn't say they have to serve 2 years in the Guard as part of their training, better to say they're plucked from a certain battallion that the Chapter big-wigs "divert" the really promising young soldiers to in order to see how they cope with suicide missions and general nastiness the other battalions don't get to see. If they survive their 2 years they get creamed off for implantation
