Suffering somewhat from being from a game.....

I read the book in a constant state of cringe, ow ow ow. Please stop despoiling 40K with your killing corridors full of Storm Troopers n.p, making SM shoot each other and other things.

The writing style was ok, but content wise...

I'd personally like to shy away from anything that portrays Space Marines as main characters, unless the writer has VERY good credentials. SM aren't meant to be related to, or have emotions, or be in any way emotionally/motivationally human. I don't want that fantastic image of psychopathic warrior-monks despoiled.

Note: Complete BL newbie, only ready First & Only and Ghostmaker. Both of which I loved.

I forgot to mention the Tanith Series. Then again, I don't know who wouldn't like 'em. That's just my thoughts.

personally I love the GG books. And as to some sugestions for books to read. Right now im reading Ragnars Claw and just finished Grey hunter last night.
Now I for one have never really liked the Space Wolves the idea of space norsemen never really appealed to me. BUT...... after reading Grey Hunter I was actually impressed with Bill Kings writing and his depectoin of Blackmane. especially the way he depicted the good natured bantering between BM and his friend Sven. After reading that I realized one thing the SW are all have the british humour (or maybe thats just Bill Kings personally comming out ) anyways I thought they where alright.

Another book I just finished was traitor General. I thought it was a damn good book as it showed the afterefects of a chaos invasion and what it does to your mind and soul. One I would recomend to anyone who enjoys the GG books.

I agree with FGMike here on Traitor General, just wait though till ya start reading His Last Command, it's a piece of art that will give you a true love/hate relationship with the Commissars.

I recommend we do something nice and simple for starters, something everyone's read or can read very quickly.

I would like to suggest the Last Chancers series. Mostly considering i just bought the omnibus edition 2 days ago and its easy for me to access. But if that wont fly i also suggest 15 hours and Grey Knights. (Both of which i already own)
