Come on, every campaign involves every army, and their objectives are all the same like "honour', 'hold', 'devour', 'enslave', 'preserve', 'waagh!', 'corrupt', 'harvest'.
You see my point? Can't there be a campaign like the one in the fire warrior game, that doesn't involve all armies but none the less has a conflict. I mean there are only so many reasons why every race could want this particular planet or how they all manage to get there, from all over the galaxy. I understand that GW aims to keep all armies players happy, and to include them but it just doesn't always work. Does anyone have any ideas for a good fluffy campaign that doesn't include all races?
Edit darkreever- please mind you spelling and grammar Anubis_, it was a little hard to read your post.

Its a fair point the easiest way to do this would be to run several cmpaigns at once to include all the different races.

Do tell me, what do you imagine would happen if Games Workshop launched a huge, world-spanning campaign advertised as the biggest and best of all campaigns ever, and then decided to leave out one or two armies? Do you think the players of those armies would just shrug and say ‘better luck next year!’ while their friends were all out gaming the night away in this wonderful new campaign? Or would they feel cheated and start rioting in the streets? Considering that the majority of Warhammer players are 14-year old males, my money is not on them being reasonable.
Of course, you can always construct your own campaign that includes only what armies you find appropriate, and I’m sure your local Games Workshop store will lend you the terrain and additional gadgets necessary to make it a good campaign; perhaps your local store might even host a campaign themselves and adjust their fluff if there are armies lacking among those attending, but Games Workshop can’t afford to have a national or even international campaign that leaves out a large group of customers who will then be disappointed and hence won’t spend their money on additional Warhammer stuff.
Even if you split a big campaign into smaller ones containing only a few armies, there will be complaints if friends can’t play in the same campaign due to their different armies, if one campaign has better fluff, or is unbalanced, or a thousand other complaints that will inevitably occur due to the grass always being greener in the other campaign. Perhaps Games Workshop can find a way to circumvent this problem, but I must admit I don’t see how.
As for ideas for a campaign of your own, I would suggest starting by finding out which armies are going to participate, and then plot the fluff around that fact. You have Space Marines and Eldar? Well, those xenos scum shan’t be polluting the domains of humanity much longer! Chaos and Tyranids? The Hivemind is a powerful weapon that can block out even the guiding light of the false Emperor, and the mutability of the Tyranid race is pleasing in the eyes of Tzeentch. Tau and Necrons? The oldest sentient race in the galaxy confronts the youngest of the Old Ones’ successors as eon-old hatred is pitted against young, dynamic unity. The possibilities are endless.
Additionally, once you’ve figured out who’s going to participate in your campaign and what armies they’ll bring, you can also come here and ask for ideas or post your campaign fluff for the other members to review and revise. We’re always happy to help other members make some really nice, fluffy campaigns.

for a couple suggestions or just a pointer in the right direction you can check out my campaign website at http://campaign.urbanknightdesigns.com Feel free to check out the campaign rules I have posted and such, my campaign has a lot more "special rules" then a lot of campaigns, but I wanted to add a bit more strategic rules to the game. Feel free to use them in your own campaign, but keep in mind they are still being tested out in an "alpha" phase so they are changed fairly frequently.
When you look at it totally superficially, then yeah, the Campaigns are quite dull.
But look at the eye of Terror campaign. Superficially, it's just chaos versus the Imperium in a big scrap. Very conventional and dull. However, all the little side points, like the zombie plague, Arihman's infiltration of the webway, the looming threat of the necrons (and the pylons) where GW put all the interesting stuff. I'm sure Cities of Death will be similar.. The main battle story won't be very interesting because, to be frank, a massive war is not terribly interesting narratively, just go to a military history lesson. It'll be the side bits, the characters and so forth where the really good fluff is.
The thing that bothered me the most about EoT was that not a lot happened by the time the campaign was over. Cadia did *not* fall, etc. It really should have been more like 'this is the big one, chaos is eating through sectors like nothing and so on, and actually contributed to the story of 40k. Instead the setting has been in a kind of stasis forever, and it grinds against reality when new things are introduced, like the Tau.
It's because GW wants to maintain marketing stasis. They don't want things to change; if they did, GW would have to do a lot of work in terms of updating models and codices. For example, if Cadia fell, GW would have to revise the Cadian regiments, Cadian special characters - Creed would be dead - and Cadians themselves would stop being the "base IG" regiment and become a synonym for worldless refugee.

Mr_Wayne: "Some people believe that the World Eaters do not field any ranged weaponry. Those people often die at a distance."
And then someone else takes over being the "Base IG" army. I wouldnt mind seeing more of the russian looking ones around.
My whole thing is, how do they explain some of the geographical larks to appear? Were tyranids/tau present in the Eye of Terror campeign? Must have been a long flight for even the sub-warp travel of the tau. The continuity of some campeigns SHOULD be influanced by geography. The closer you get to the north eastern fringes, the more armies are generaly involved, seeing as how chaos is galacticly near universal as well as the imperium.
I've seen a man roll 26 ones in a single handfull of dice, and Tycho die 49 consecutive times in 60 games. I've had a wolf lord never die (106 games) and a war walker kill a Force Commander AFTER its gotten both weapons destroyed. I've lived a full gaming life.
I think the idea of seperate campaigns is good, but i see the point about leaving some people out ie. if they collect tau and their friend collects dark eldar and the campaign calls for them to be fighting on dif. fronts if you know what i mean. but still GW could have a campaign focusing on multiple (close) systems, not just one planet. And for a change, not have everyone attacking the imperials, like the tau have captured a recently-tainted chaos world and the SM realise this could be their chance to find a lost artifact. chaos would then want to retake it because of their pride, the Eldar and DE could be fighting in a nearby system and the 'nids and Necrons rock up for some fun. or something as such. Also, what's wrong with my grammar?
I say if you do not like the GW campaigns, simply make your own and don't join the nation-wide games, they only leave with dissapointment anyway, I do like to read some of the fluff if it gives some sort of insight into a certain race, thats when its worth it :3
