So i ended up having a 50/50 force of Catachan and Cadian Models
i have like 90 troops
Storm troopers and special weapons +Heavy Weapons
which comes out to almost 2000 pts.
But how do i pull all the storyline together?
My first ideas were stick with the same doctrines, but i dont want to have to model carapace armour onto Catachan!(which was a bad idea anyways)
26th Arcadian Rifles
My Doctrines: Heavy Weapons
This has given me a bit of restrictions for models and such but i think deepstriking guardsmen with flamethrowers is just awesome.
My first fluff story was that the two regiments were mixed, which lead to integration of men at arms
OR i could always go with the option of that the troops who receive military honors attain armour (which the cadians have), as a work for the armour kind of thing. (which seemed kinda lame but cool i dunno
OR my 3rd option would be to say that the army is a bunch of ragtag soldiers which have to use older model weapons (Which i modeled just to make my army look unique) and salvage armour from other comrades (who happen to be dead) this idea kind of made me laugh though, like the imperium couldnt afford to make some damn flak armour.
OR i could say that they sell off the armour to on-planet merchants to buy slaught n' kalma and obscura. And the storm-troopers are not Glory boys but a bunch of pleasure seeking bunch of gits who love grav-chute drops from orbit, and they smoke in the grav-chute. i DID model gas masks on my cadians so i guess i could use chem-inhalers for the rest of the guys.
OR the Cadians or Catachans are mercenaries from another world.
Thanks for any input!
Model-wise take the legs, torsos from the cadians and that Cadian head that have his helmet unbuttoned but still attached on his head and the arms and weapons from the catachans. You will then have an army that looks kind of like battle hardned soldiers that are worn but still wear their armour (kind of like the Vietnamn-soldiers you see in movies).
As for fluff... I gotta think about that.
Their regiment could have very lax uniform protocols. Could work if they came from a fuedal world
Well, It could be hard times for the IG.
Constantly fighting orks or something.
Just get random men and throw them into battle, the did it in WWII.
something like that.
I am Narcotick. Fear me.
LO Musicians clan.
Or they could be something completly different like a rebel or pirate army that just ues IG rules.
I do it and I have Cadians Catachans and Tallerns I just say that they are ahive army raised from some hive world and I am able to mix parts I even use empire and high elven heads
A Cadian regiment forced to fight protracted battles on jungle wars, the majority of whom have resorted to Catachan tactics and dress code so as to suit the environment?
Well, it happened in Vietnam. It can't be that hard to take off your confined, restricting, stuffy carapace armour in favour of a Rambo shirt and a bandanna in the steamy jungle heat.
Or a Catachan regiment who were decimated and had to join up with their Cadian reinforcements, resulting in an intra-regimental cultural divide.

Catachans... maybe as Light Infantry, or even Die Hards or Conscripts or something... but you don't want to change doctrines... hmm. Well, Light Infantry can infiltrate, right? And if you really like Sniper Rifles or something, then maybe Light Infantry is better than Drop Troops...
Maybe the Catachans can be some sort of Irregulars or "attached" units alongside a Cadian backbone, as said before. Maybe a Cadian officer leading some non-Cadian troopers from the local populace.
Or, maybe they're just different elements within the same service. You might not need a Doctrine... you can just call the Catachans "Light Infantry" or "Scouts" or "Cavalry" or "Skirmishers", while the Cadian models are "Armored Infantry" or "Riflemen" or "Tank Stalkers" or some such. Make up some fluff.
I'd preferably arm the Cadians one way to represent one type of infantry unit (Lascannon & Plasma, for instance) with the Catachans/irregulars armed another way to represent another type/MOS infantry unit (HBolter or MLauncher & GLauncher, for instance).
I like that idea so much, I might do it myself...
